I have given up on the one strut idea. Think I have a way figured to mount two struts. Now to decide on which ones and size. I did lift the lid by one end, it did not flex, but sure it will tweak or bind.
Edit: McMaster Carr catalog pg. 1167 shows how to calculate and measure force needed...
Will one hyd. strut assist to lifting a lid or will just one tweak the lid when opening? I am having a hard time figuring out how to mount two (one at each end)on my M100 with tailgate. How do you figure out where to mount them? Is it just a closed and open position mounting points?
Any...
I have two MV-50's bought at the $25 price. One has never been used and is in my dd pickup. The other one, I spent some time on-put on a new hose and chuck, rewired and resoldered all connections, put a better fuse holder in it. It is my trail truck spare as I have OBA from a larger Thomas...
Just bought one of the 780's for my xmas trip. 1150 miles each way. I am convinced that unit payed for itself on the trip alone. Lots of features I don't use but that is okay. I am impressed and happy with it.
If I understand Garmin right, that TOPO is preloaded into the memory of the nuvi 500. I would wait and add the more detailed topo of each area/state I wanted when they come out. They will be 1:24. Only a few states out now.
Being a near waterproof model, getting the SD card out of the 500...
Got any recommendations for top hinges on a M100? I want to have the top removeable, but does not have to be quick. I don't like the piano hinges. I can space the tub side easily enough to get a flat mount. Top will be 1x1 tube with 14 ga sheet on it.
Any ideas or pics better than some door...
Some folks mount the spare on the tongue against the front of the bed. If you run a narrow tire, you can mount a tire winch mount under the bed off the cross brace in front of the axle. I used a winch mount from a newer Dodge Ram full sized truck (junkyard $15). I run 33x12.5 tires so my...
I bought the generic one at Cabellas for mine. Around $30. Pretty happy with it and it does fold up inside the cot. Also has an inflatable headrest/pillow.
You can either use the smaller gasket as mentioned; or cut a notch hole in the gasket so the vent is open. Just turn the gasket a 1/4 turn when not using the spout so it won't leak.
I had seen mentioned that some folks have used the mini truck spare tire winches to mount their spare under the trailer. I had one from a Toyota that used a chain but the chain was missing. After several trips to many stores, I found that Toyota used an odd sized chain and is nearly impossible...
If you strip off the outer insulation coat on the wiring on a SB winch-it will say TMAX on the inner wiring.
They are slow, but I would still prefer having one over nothing.
I have had better luck using a bag of marbles instead of BB's to break the rust flakes loose.
Not sure if it was the size, or weight; but they did a better job.
A couple of chain links or similar welded to the tongue would contain that wiring nicely and keep it from getting caught. Nice trailer. Hope to see it in person soon. I am in Boise.
