    Travis's PNW Lexus LX570

H&R also makes a very nice spacer with the studs being spline type pressed in from behind rather than the thread in type some others use. I've never seen the Bora. The HR I got for my rover are available in 25mm and 30mm

Studded vs non-studded Nokian LT2/3 - calling fellow northerners & Canadians

I think I mentioned they I currently have the studded Nokian LT2 in narrow 245/75-17 on factory 17x7. While overkill a lot of the time, when it’s the right time, it’s like nothing else to have studs on compacted snow and ice. like two weeks ago in eastern Washington and over all the passes...

LR3 owners sound off, which tires?

what bumper? 33 will be tight or not work at all with factory bumper, probably even if you have a factory 17", like i do, no spacers, and that narrow tire, though it would be fun to test to see just how close it is. I have the arb bumper and it's been so long i have no recollection on how much...

I thought i've seen Nokian mention having walnut stuff in theirs or their own similar idea.

Studded vs non-studded Nokian LT2/3 - calling fellow northerners & Canadians

thanks for the input but my lr3 weighs 7200-8400 depending on the trip so a non E load tire won't be happening but I do like the R2 on my bmw 535 wagon.

Studded vs non-studded Nokian LT2/3 - calling fellow northerners & Canadians

Sounds like the 'nature' of a cable to do it's best to straighten out if it can, thus it's own tension to bow out. A loose enough chain could fling itself out with enough wheel spin but I don't see it being much after how tight mine were upon test fitting to 3 different tires.

Yeah, I figured because I checked the weather on your town before I started talking ******** ;) but I'm sure you will get more there than I would in Seattle, which is next to nothing due to the ocean. However, cross the range and it's more like true winter. Funny you're also using a 34 but I only...

    2008 Land Rover LR3 on 35"s - Refurbish/Rebuild Thread

Wouldn't it be nice to convert to a cable? Even better a center diff version like on the older rovers. I always liked that on my D1 and 2 you could utilize all 4 tires to hold traction on a steep slope vs the stupid 2 wheels only on the new rovers. On a steep incline pointing nose down, it...

Studded vs non-studded Nokian LT2/3 - calling fellow northerners & Canadians

I would choose an LT2 factory studded over having a shop studding an LT3 because yes, studding a tire is in my view "crap" when compared to them being molded into the tire by the industry leader. There is an irony in you wanting that slight margin of benefit while also willing to do it...

    Project Victory_Overland 08 LR3 Build Thread!

Hey, before you finalize, consider this: When fussing around with some crap on mine couple yrs back I was trying to figure out a cool way to mount the High-lift back there ON one of the swing arms, laterally. Not standing up because then it would stick out past the roof and catch branches or...

Studded vs non-studded Nokian LT2/3 - calling fellow northerners & Canadians

No offense meant, but, this makes no sense whatsoever. Why on earth would you spend money on the latest Nokian tire but then have crap studs put in them instead of getting what appears to be the best possible stud tech in their version? Anything you'd have put in there will posses all the...

What a great thread you started. I loved seeing the location photos having fun as well as the various things you did for it to suit your travel style. I'm in Tacoma but come down that way several times a year for either mtb riding or nordic skiing, Mt Hood or Bachelor.

Studded vs non-studded Nokian LT2/3 - calling fellow northerners & Canadians

Yes, this is the annoying part. The studless Nokian LT2 and 3 are only appreciably narrow in the 17 or under sizes. The new lt3 size of 265/70-18 is marginal at best. The 245/75-17 is a proper snow tire width but the work I had to do just to fit a 17 was stupid.
