    Rango.....1942 Willys MB

Thank you very much. It was totally neat to get it in print. There is also a pic in JP magazine along with a carb article I contributed to.

2007 Dodge Cummins "Power Wagon" Camper

That's an interesting tire choice. I can't wait to see it. What gears is the truck running now? 3.73 or 4.10?

Just a few odd and ends..... -I would like to find room for a group 31 battery in the engine compartment. The lower the better. I suspect with highline fenders this will be harder than it sounds. Since I probably won't have a large YJ/CJ heater box that may open up some other options. I like...

1st part in the garage! This is going to be a LONG build but at it feels kinda neat to have something in the garage! Now I just need to rebuild it, mod it, paint it, and find a transmission to hook it to!

    Long Jeep.....chasing unicorns

I've been digging into my np205 stuff for the Long Jeep. It looks like my plan is going to work out ok.... -I need to change the input to a TH400 style 32 spline short version. The ford is 31 spline. The bonus is that the ford 31-spline also used the same input bearing at the th400 version so I...

    Long Jeep.....chasing unicorns

Yeah, sometimes getting some data is the hard part. I may just have to wait to move forward with the final frame dimensions till I have a tub and front clip mocked up. Sometimes that is just how it goes. With the clearance being as tight as I want in this thing it might be better to just wait...

I need the measurements from the steel corner of the grill shell to the ground. I am basically looking at having more front frame kick by eliminating or shortening the rubber bumper significantly. I basically need a matched pair of measurements to make the data work anything. Maybe I should...

Can a few people get me a measurement or two? I need a measurement from the bottom of the rocker to the ground near the front flare AND a measurement from the corner of the grill shell over the frame rail where the little rubber bumper mounts to the ground? I am trying to get a better idea...

    Side-mount Jerry can holders

I like the concept on some vehicles but not others. I think you pulled it off well. I think the ability to remove the mounts is a good thing. I have to wonder if there wouldn't be a way to integrate some kind of stealthy mounting system into a pair of rocker guards? Having the weight forward...

    New project in the works

BDS suspension just got done re-building a liberty CRD for the ultimate adventure. It would probably be worth reading... http://bds-suspension.com/blog/ Most of the build is buried in the blog, you kinda have to dig for it.

Well it looks like parts gathering is going to begin.... A good friend of mine is coming to Colorado with a spare Ford NP205 for me! Yipee! I need to dig out some of my notes on the old transfer cases. I will need to replace the input for a 32 spline unit ( short or long? ) from a TH400...

    Long Jeep.....chasing unicorns

Some notes for the day. A coworker brought in his Samsung Galazy tab 7 for me to check out. It's smaller than I thought. If it was mounted above the steering column it would probably be big enough. If it was mounted in the middle of the dash like I wanted I don't know if it would be large...

    Long Jeep.....chasing unicorns

I mentioned it a few posts back, but I agree that this concept could be built in a lot of other chassis. All the 90-110 rover stuff I have seen has been pretty much trash. The frames, though boxed, where pretty dang thin material. The same goes for the bodies. That is just my hands on...

    Long Jeep.....chasing unicorns

You do realize I want an easy to find vehicle in the USA with common affordable parts in the USA that is well made right? :) There are not that many 110s around, let alone ones that are cheap and ready to be cut up. Being in the jeep section I can say that I just don't get the rover...

Today, more little stuff. I am working through some stuff on the top I want to use... Basically I think I will end up using one of the frameless soft tops for the LJ tub. There are a few on the market.... http://www.quadratec.com/products/11119_1235_07.htm The Rampage Products version. This...

    Long Jeep.....chasing unicorns

On all the CJ/YJ stuff everything is in the windshield frame and its easy. The factory TJ stuff is all outside the body under the cowl. The Aqualu tub is constructed like a YJ/CJ cowl, but just has the shape of the TJ windshield and firewall to use those parts. I don't think Aqualu makes too...

    Long Jeep.....chasing unicorns

CJ wipers might be able to work. I don't know if there is room in the bottom of the TJ windshield frame though. Looking at a few pics the area below the glass is very short. There have been people that have modified a CJ/YJ windshield frame to take a TJ top header....and I think you have to...

It looks like there is a widget add on for Torque.... https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.prowl.torquewidget&hl=en You can basically have a gauge on your home screen thing. I think you can do the same thing with a music controller. I am still looking for some GPS stuff. You could...

    Long Jeep.....chasing unicorns

yeah. I have looked at most of the other options....most of them are what I would call very expensive. I run my flat fender on a very basic gauge system and it works fine....just tach, oil pressure, vacuum, and a widband O2 meter. That is plenty of information for me. The number one gauge I...
