Dexter axles easily replaceable (swapping lug patterns)

If you are using stock Jeep wheels the center bore is too small for the spindle to fit through, you will need to use adapters to get the clearance. I’d recommend driving out the races and fitting Timkin bearings, it’s your only moving part so go with the best, especially if you are running...

    Issues with Inka Outdoors

I don’t post up as often as I used to. This forum has matured over the years and we have a membership that has good experience and can offer sound advice. When the community was first forming it relied on a few of us to share experiences but now there is a wealth of information available. It’s...

    Issues with Inka Outdoors

I have lots of empathy for both sides here. Having been in the Overland trailer business since 2002 we have experienced just about every permutation of the struggles of production and doing everything we can to meet customers expectations. Let me just say the trailer business is a very hard one...

If you plan on buying a manufactured trailer there are a few things you need to know

Unfortunately some domestic US manufacture fail to make trailers up to standard, walking Expo this year I saw many failures. The most common error is no reflectors.

    Eccotemp or other

Just returned an L5 that I had bought from Eccotemp as a new scratch and dent unit. First of all it wouldn't heat the water up to temperature, worked with the techs on the phone to adjust everything but still the water was just luke warm. A few weeks later the water turned scalding hot, turned...

    Seam Grip

Seam grip is usually applied from the inside of the tent to seal leaks, as per the manufacturers recommendation. It will work on dry or wet fabric, the drying time is speeded up with humidity or moisture. A catalyst is available to speed up the drying time.

    FWC Shell or Habitat

We have a whole range of Tacoma customers many with stock suspension, others with air bags, and some with modified suspension. In all cases the Habitat works with what they have. As I think we all know the Tacoma stock rear suspension is weak and many people supplement it or replace it even if...

    AT Tacoma Habitat: Official Thread

Most of the fitments are custom due to the different vehicles or where owners have located storage, fidgets, stoves etc. Brian from Goose Gear has an under chassis unit on his own personal truck, but basically the heater will fit anywhere a box 14”L x 7”W x 4.5”H will fit with...

    AT Tacoma Habitat: Official Thread

Word is slowly getting out there about the Habitat, many of our customers buy the Habitat so they can get away from the madness of daily life so I can understand their reluctance to post. We ask customers to send us pictures of them using their Habitats and we post up on our Facebook and...

AT Habitat coming to the F-150?

There is interest in the 8ft. Habitat. We are making a 6.75ft Habitat for the newer Ford F-250/350 in the next batch and the basic design may be adaptable to the 8ft version. The issue is that Ford has a unique footprint for their truck beds which is further compounded by a high cab height...

In need of: Can Holder - Scepter

AT designed and produced the Scepter can holder for a government contract sometime around 2005. While imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, I have a problem when a design is copied and not improved upon, to me it just shows laziness and lack of imagination. Can holders should be back in...

    AT Tacoma Habitat: Official Thread

Similar issues with the portable, you need to get at least one 3” hose into the Habitat, two if you want to recirculate the air through the heater. Potential paths could be via the side doors on the tent, or through a window in the side of the Habitat using a template with one or two...

    AT Tacoma Habitat: Official Thread

The heater is roughly the size of a shoe box, we can fit it into a cabinet or under a slide, or just bolted to the floor (we can put a protective cover over it if it's just mounted to the floor). The air out put and return is direct from the inside of the Habitat, the exhaust and air intake for...

The Propex heater is a very good choice. We have units that fit inside the camper (about the size of a shoe box), and sealed units that can fit under the floor tucked up next to the chassis.

Propex heater ducting with PVC, thoughts?

Good idea, good materials that work for your project, sounds like a winner.

Propex heater ducting with PVC, thoughts?

I would test the PVC with the heater for a prolonged period of time. Temperature ratings for materials are for a given period of time so the material could fail after extended exposure. Otherwise looks like a great idea.

The tent fabric and the 2” mattress takes up all the space.

    AT Tacoma Habitat: Official Thread

Personal opinion here; The Tacoma chassis is a real noodle. If you have a single pivot rear swing away and you open it the chassis will move 2-3". It was a real problem when we were working with FlipPacs as you couldn't latch the lid with the swing away out. Combine that with a very weak stock...

    AT Tacoma Habitat: Official Thread

When we fit a Tacoma Habitat we do not touch the bolts that hold the bed to the chassis, so I doubt fitting the Habitat would contribute to bed alignment issues. We have found that Tacoma beds are not longitudinal straight, the sides vary in width from front to back in a wave like form. We...
