I'm trying to get back in the groove.....
So I cut off some more sheet metal!
I cut out the rear wheel opening to a larger size. Its a 36" dia cut. I still have some clean up to do but the basic cut is in! I will be welding in a 3/16" round rod to the edge like I did the hood.
And a pic...
I've been running the Primary Arms red dot on my primary AR for just over a year now. I have had to change the battery once....
Overall, for the money, I could not be happier! I got the removable base version with the PA house brand mount with the quick detach lever. Overall it works GREAT! I...
Smith and Wesson M&P can be had with a manual safety that is VERY similar to the 1911 thumb safety......
In my opinion you get the best of both worlds, glock-like polymer pistol that goes bang every time.....but the ergonomics and order of operations of a 1911 style pistol.
I always wondered why Jeep didn't add in the J8 front housing to the Rubicon? It seems like it would be a simple low cost upgrade that would probably cost Jeep like $5 or something.....
Just the housing with the thicker front tubes....not the bigger brakes or 5 on 5.5 stuff........but that...
That is good to hear on the increased production! Maybe we will get some other options....
While I am not a HUGE fan of the Dana 60 used in the J8 since it has c-clip axles, the J8 rear end is FACTORY rated to carry over a ton of payload in the severe military application. The rear end is 35...
I am running 1" lift Superlift REAR springs for an early flat fender on all 4 corners. It is still SUA all around. I think the springs have given me more like 2-3" over my old original military springs. The new springs have a full miltary wrapped 2nd leaf and 3 leaf clamps per spring. I hope...
I'm planning for the final push in Febuary and March. I have to dump a decent amount of money into the last groups of parts. The cage is still a question mark at this point. It will probably be last at this point.....
I can't wait to get it out on the trail! There will probably be another round...
How many people buy the Rubicon package even though they have almost no idea what the 'diff lock' button even does?????
A J8 axle package would sell. So would the 3 door. So would just about anything Jeep puts on the lot.....
If you don't think a J8 with a diesel would sell in the USA your...
Thanks guys. It is looking pretty sweet! It does look kinda like a hot wheels or comic book creation!
I asked on pirate also. Does anyone in the Durango, Co area have a tubing bender and 1.5" die I can come use for an evening. I need to make 4 bends for the cage! I have been building my own...
The tires are 35x13.5x15's. They are the Krawlers, not the KM2's. I bought the set of 4 used locally. They where abou 80-90 percent tread already mounted and balanced on beadlock rims that where the proper bolt pattern. I saved a BUNCH of money rather than buying new.....
Soni's Willys is one...
The fuel tank is being relocated to the rear tub area and probably under the tub behind the rear axle in the end....
Sorry for the lack of updates everyone, I am stuck in limbo right now trying to get some things together for the tear down and final welding of the frame...
Just a little bit.....at least it's something!
Anyways.....
I made a simple battery mount for the optima. I still need to make a hold down strap that goes over the top of the battery. I'm thinking a formed sheetmetal strap with a small cam buckle?
I hid these little brackets on the...
I will try and get the updates going again. We had a bit of a family emergency on new years. The misses sister and husband where hit while crossing the street by a drunk driver that then decided to flee the scene....totally GREAT way to start 2012 let me tell you! Things are getting back to more...
For some interesting reading look into the removal of all the emissions junk off the current Cummins engine. The same basic engine was getting 20+ a LOW tech version pushing a BRICK like my truck around....new truck.......gets about half the mileage!
We are not going to get diesel engine...
The J8 chassis was designed to last 3 times as long as the normal JK chassis. They destroyed multiple JK's on a special test track to prove this point....then drove it with the J8 and it lasted at least three times as long....this was a SEVERE off road type punishment course.
It's a flat out...
