Diesel in a Jeep again...not the wrangler

What? The frame on the JK series is VERY stout, likely as stout as the ram 1500 frame. There is also all the data from the J8 program as far as frame changes and reinforcements that have been done to the JK frame to make it meet the military durability requirements, same goes for the body. The...

Using Cylinder Compression to Air up tyres?

I would be hesitant to pump an air and fuel mixture into the tire...... The 12V MV50 electric compressors are a GREAT low budget option. It takes a little longer, but its not THAT long, even with the big 39" tires on my Dodge.

Tire chains, snow, mud, and airing down.....

That is a bit of weight for SURE! My dodge is within about 300-400lbs of balanced front to rear with the shell, some gear, and the big spare tire. I think its still under 7000lbs. Do you really need THAT much weight? I rarely need 4wd around here on winter roads with the big tires and the...

I'll send you a pm. I will try and locate them and dig them out tonight. They may be under some snow on the side of the garage....mmmmmmm.....

Tire chains, snow, mud, and airing down.....

My big ol' dodge floats pretty well when the tires are in the single digits. I had to do a little work to get the tires to fit  When you where stuck with the 35s did you try airing down? How many people have tried it both ways? I have a pair of chains that fit 315/75r16s if anyone...

    Rango.....1942 Willys MB

I was referring specifically to starting with an Aqualu aluminum tub. When I talked with them at EJS they where more than willing to take on custom ideas. I think they could build a tub with most of the modifications I did fairly easy. I would have them raise the rear wheel tubs, keep the floor...

Just a little bit every day......just a little bit every day.... I made some 'pads' for the XY pedal assembly out of some scrap 2" wide, 1/8" thick flat stock I found laying around...hope I didn't need to that for something else? Anyways. I didn't think that rubber pads where going to look...

And that 3rd gen is on 37" BFG KM2's on stock wheels with no cutting.....and only a front leveling kit. The km2 is a smaller 37, but still! Its WAY cool to be able to run larger tires on a full size without having to lift it a ton or cut it a bunch. My truck was still a bit smaller...

What PSI where the tires at? Did you try low air pressure?

Nothing much to report.....two steps forward...one step back.... I decided to move the pedal assembly 1" closer to the column. After sitting in the thing for a little bit and making lots and lots of vroom vroom noises I noticed that my left foot would get hung up on the clutch pedal while...

I just got done building the power steering box mount and figuring out the steering column! There really isn't too many other places that would work out well for the steering column no matter how remote you could make it. If the steering column was any flatter you wouldn't be able to get out...

The cockpit is pretty dang small. I can touch the windshield while seated! The wheel is small enough I can get my hands in any position really easy. Remember....VERY small cockpit! I do agree that you need to be able to pay attention and react when needed while driving these old things. It...

Its all a compromise for sure. There is only so much room between the dash and the wheel tub in the back. One of the main issues with the factory seating position was that it was WAY too upright. The seat back was 90 degree to the floor. This was torture to drive, especially sitting on the...

I got a bit done this morning.... I modified the top of the XJ pedal assembly. I cut it off at 90 degrees to the mounting face right at the 'buldge' for the clutch pedal bracket. This seemed the best place to trim the pedals to get the assembly higher under the dash. Here is where the top...

I guess this thing is getting kinda long! I'm excited to get it driving around again! I have a shakedown run in Moab the weekend of the 24th of March! EEEKKKK! That doesn't seem to far away! Overall the project is coming together, but I still have a good amount of work to do. I am trying to...

Thank you. It should be pretty fun when its done I hope. It's not going to be the best at anything, but it should get around pretty well and turn some heads doing it. Even after building only this far I have a list, the length of my arm, of things that I would change or do different if I was...

Building 04 ram 2500 into expo rig. need thoughts/advice

Honestly, I would do everything I could to keep extra weight off the front end. The last thing a CTD truck needs is a big heavy front bumper/winch hanging out over the front axle. The stock front axle is marginal in the stock application and can really use a balljoint upgrade and truss for heavy...

Have I earned my wrench turning merit badge yet? Come on now, I just finally started liking the look of the 3rd gen dodge! I bypassed liking the 2nd gen dodge alltogether.....but I like the 3rd gen, especially the black grill ST versions. I still don't like the 4th gen trucks.....give me a few...
