^^^ it is a DSG type box, so I stand corrected for the FG in particular (no slip/no TC) but even with a normal auto, I stand by my statements.
In the 2006 Brochure I have, the trans is listed as Mitsubishi five speed with two speed transfer case. The 2012 brochure does not say that, nor does it...
why would doubling or tripling your crawl ratio be useless? i realise the torque converter offers some slip and torque multiplication, but you are not going to convince me that a truck with a 2:1 low range drives the same as a truck with a 1:1 case that can only be shifted from 2wd high to 4wd...
I dont see anywhere a mention of a single speed transfer case (searched the linked article for the term). It says range selector, which I am assuming to mean selecting between high range and low range. To the left of the steering wheel on a US model means to me that its not a "gear lever" at...
not a CAT fan by any means, but it appears to be a decent engine. I cant argue that Allison and Arvin are quality components and the "off the shelf" design is a good one. Why build your own transmission or have one created for a project when an Aliison 3000 will do just fine (example).
I...
not going to make it this year after all due to unexpected events. Keep the pics and vids coming...
I suggest a move to Utah or Colorado, where its a tiny bit cooler than high 80s and less dusty :D
Im very interested in your thoughts on this vehicle from a quality and technical standpoint, especially since there arent many in private hands. Though one truck out a fleet is an isolated example, but I have done some reading on these and the S&S models at least, appear to be complete carbage...
typical tool bag at the dealership... A heavy duty "rear end" has absolutely nothing to do with how your transmission goes from one gear to another.
wow.....
PK not sure what kind of car you have, but "keeping up" with semi's even in the smaller economy cars in the US is no problem. On the way home tonight, I was easily doing 80 MPH on winding country back roads. Though there was not much elevation today, a recent trip to the mountains saw heavy...
wheel spacer/adapter, tire and wheel all need to be properly rated and designed. A "dished" wheel as for a dually will not work well if you just remove one of the dually wheels and leave one installed. The wheel needs to have the appropriate backspacing or offset for your application.
I would...
Simple physics will tell you that a 13,000 pound brick with 36" tires and 147 hp is not going to do 65 mph up a mountain pass.
Swap in a Cummins or Duramax or get used to going slow. These trucks are well built and will run a long time if cared for, but they are nothing, if not slow.
I have no...
sound like Big Brother and probably the Democrats have made it to Oz. Damn safety nazis.... god forbid someone uses their brain or thinks for themselves or does something logical..... nope, wont have any of that going on here, not on my watch we wont, no sir..... :victory:
As far as pricing I was just guessing on the labour. Still have not caught up with Matt, we were both out of town for the weekend, but if you delete the frame stretch and the cab swap, I cant imagine that it would be too difficult of a project and we have both done solid axle conversions before...
ok, so you are saying to buy a crew cab Fuso or NQR, leave the wheelbase as it sits and just make the two wheel drive crew cab into a four wheel drive by adding a solid axle and a transfer case?
If so, I think that is the best way to go for ease of construction, budget, etc. If I was going to...
ok that refreshes some things now.... If you are not going to do any serious off roading, then mounting a fifth wheel RV onto the bed of the Fuso would probably be ok, though I have no experience doing this. I would assume that the suspension of the Fuso would act like the suspension of the...
there are several things to consider here:
one is engine torque at low rpm, like clutch engagement when you start pulling a load or you are inching along in traffic or through a parking lot
two is peak torque both in number and in RPM
third is area under curve and fourth is torque at wheel...
I doubt there is a difference between an FE Crew frame and FE standard cab frame, but will check the body builders guide to make sure.
Im in Atlanta, Georgia, which is about 48 hours of driving from Vancouver (long story :D)
We would be happy to entertain the project if you are serious about...
This has been discussed quite a bit on this board and I know myself and others have debated the best way to get a crew cab 4WD Fuso since we dont get that truck here.
You have three choices: make an FE Crew into a 4WD, swap a crew cab onto an FG chassis or buy a crew cab from someone and build...
Snow's (http://www.snows-commercials.co.uk/) is a good source of cabs and parts. Always thought it would be cool to get a Euro cab that we never got and put it on one of our chassis for a cool expo or tow rig
Love that crew cab above, that is sweet...
