I assume you are going to beef up both ends of that shock mount and put a reinforcing bar over the top of the shocks with an end piece to make them double shear and stiffen everything up some (/hint)
same goes for bottom, just in a different manner, both sets of mounts should be double shear...
There is not a factory tilt on north american crew cabs, only interior and exterior engine access.. I have been told that the double cabs can be made to tilt, as the front attachment is the same. They would be quite difficult to tilt up without assistance (some type of hydraulic or pneumatic...
There absolutely was an AWD new Beetle in the US. It was only made for two years and was called an RSI:
Beetle RSi (2001-2003)
VW New Beetle RSi
It is a limited (250 units) version of New Beetle. It included a 224 PS (165 kW; 221 hp) 3.2 litre VR6 engine,[6] a 6-speed gearbox, and Volkswagen's...
my guess would be tractor trailer from the high cab damage.
Though it does not seem correct, I remember reading a crash test years ago on cabover trucks (when I first became interested in them) and the name brands were pretty safe. One has to "assume" that Fuso and Isuzu have accounted for this...
^^ that seems a bit strange, especially with the "global-ness" of Daimler, but I will take your word for it. Just use ebay, forums and third party suppliers to get what you need. Would never take a truck like that to the stealership anyway.
not to bring drama or derail the thread, but we are all better off without companies like Stockton. Read on pirate and mud if you want the drama and the horror stories. Mediocre product and awful customer service.
Glad to see OP got their wheels. Never heard anything bad about Rickson.
could I trouble you for some dimensions?
Length, width and height on just the cab portion of the truck (without lights, bumpers, steps, etc) and then length, width and height overall as the truck sits right now?
Thanks in advance.
dep on the 2LT2 specs, you could be better off. A 22RE only had about 115 hp and 140 TQ if I recall correctly. Maybe turn the pump up slightly on the diesel for a bit more power, better intake and exhaust or something else simple/bolt on.
Toyota diesel are notoriously underpowered or...
maybe in another two weeks they can answer why this site:
http://www.mitfuso.com/en-US/Vocations/Off-Road
says that it has a high and low range, as you noted at the top of the previous page, Chip.
Definitely not digging the idea of not having low range. Guess I would have to drive one to see...
A 14' FRP box is everybit of 2200-2400 pounds dry. That is a LOT of weight for a 3/4 ton or 1 ton truck, especially with the cabover and an 1500 pound driveline up front (engine, trans, t-case) I would suggest some serious design research on things like GAWR, suspension capacity, lengthening...
Please explain the static brake tester. If its like a chassis dyno, I have always been told not to use the brakes on a rolling road or chassis dyno as the drums are typically massive and one could damage the car driveline trying to slow it. Maybe that is just CYA for the shop running the dyno...
^^ This is not "overlanding". It's a product/vendor showcase, car show, camping trip, meet and greet, vacation, etc. Not a 'round the world journey or Kodiak to TDF, and its only 2-3 days long. I think the weather and geography can be taken into account for that period of time.
Besides its an...
I will throw my three cents in since everyone else is--
Amado is a TERRIBLE location. There, I said it. Maybe weather was good last year, but this year it sucked. Hot and dry and dusty made for a very uncomfortable and unpleasant event all around. I cant imagine trying to camp in that or be a...
^^This
additionally, have you even done number 2 in the woods? do animals do both in the woods? do guys routinely pee off the side of a trail when camping, hiking, mountain biking, rock crawling, dirt biking, etc?
Im not saying pollute the environment by any means, but lets use some (un)common...
that sucks they asked you to take them down, I knew I should have saved those pics.
What I recall is that the mounts allow the box/body to unload and pull away from the mounting base, restricted by the spring below. If there is no twisting however, do the two channels just sit inside of one...
Im not an engineer but I never got the stepped frame thing. Sure MFTB would not do something so monumental as engineer and build a new and separate frame just to give the transfer case a place to hang. A simple clocking ring or adjustment in the bolt patter to make the transfer case flat would...
no hostility here mate, but it appears to be a moot point now according to the above info.
The auto does provide reduction as you stated. However a low range transfer case would further increase the low speed ratio and the auto would still provide its normal reduction. Is there enough reduction...
