    Camper Bed Question

I had a queen size 4" thick paco pad made. Jacks plastic welding in New Mexico makes them. Made from whitewater raft material. Fairly indestructible

    Military surplus 37X12.50r16.5 tires

Ok gotcha. With the PVC run flat inserts, you retain the internal beadlock function correct? Good info here I suppose but don't the internal beadlocks on the hummer wheels provide enough protection when airing down?

    Building a new bumper.................Considerations?

Delrin won't dampen much but other than that, it sounds good. I would use bronze bushings for the hinges or just metal on metal. You won't be constantly pivoting it so I don't see much need for bushings unless you like overkill, which I totally understand. If you want the lights dampened, mount...

NPR 4wd conversion and camper build thread.

Yeah it was going to be one heavy SOB if they had ever finished it. Based on what similar trucks end up weighing I think I will be fine with this axle combo. If not, I can always upgrade.

    Gear oil temp ?

If you are that concerned, hook up a gauge and watch what it does while driving. If it's actually getting too hot for your liking, add a pump and cooler or a finned cover or fab a cover with more capacity.

    Coil springs.

Who has made that leap? What does your camper weigh? What spring rate? What spring free length? I am mainly interested in rear suspension at this time

NPR 4wd conversion and camper build thread.

I'd be inclined to use a taller gear but I guess considering the final weight and size of this rig, I should be content with 68mph. I don't want it to be a total dog down low. They also told me they installed a fuel plate. I need to verify if true and which one. May consider a turbo upgrade too...

I'm going to get the airbox from a parts truck and use that then fabricate a exhaust stack with muffler and rain cap.

I am upping my tire size to 37s as soon as I sell what I have. I would like to run 70mph at least. Looks like 4.10 with the allison 5 speed and 37s is 68mph at 1800rpm

I don't know actually. Haven't checked but I was told they are different. Either way I'm regearing at least one if them. Any input? Was thinking 3.73

    Plastic water tank repair

Yeah a bulkhead would require you to be able to reach in to the hole from the inside

My bad I suppose I should have clarified. I am moving the engine forward. The front axle will stay put. I had to flip the oil pan to allow clearance to do this. The rear axle was previously moved back about a foot and made the wheelbase 147". With my camper on the truck, based on the wheel well...

Here is the build so far on my camper box that was originally meant to go on my S10. Big change of scenery for this project but it works out well as the camper was always built bigger than the S10 with an idea towards eventually putting it on a bigger truck...

A couple updates as I work my way into this truck. I pulled the oil pan off of the 6BT to flip it around to a rear sump. The block is the same front to back so you can just rotate the pan 180*. Pretty cool! Anyway I have to find the correct oil pickup tube to work with this pan as a rear sump...

Can you cut out the bung and use a bulkhead fitting?

    pivoting frames and mounting campers

What a read! That took a few days. I also had the idea to use heim joints at the back and spring mounts from there forward. 4 per side sounds good. Decreasing the spring rate and or spring preload the farther forward the mount is. Simple and compact. I was also envisioning the design with the...

    Dual purpose NPR 4x4 build

Yeah me too. I've been told that someone figured it out with a stock steering box and some linkage from a semi truck.
