Ok good info.. Thanks. I was leaing towards the 4BD2. I may have the option to get one cheap here but it was in a flood so I would have to rebuild it. Any input on whether that's a good idea or not? It was fairly low mileage before it went under.
Looking into the 4HE1 or 4BD2 to swap into my truck. Thinking of an adapter to use GM trans and transfer case or just using a divorced T case with the trans that comes with the Isuzu or finding a 4wd trans for the Isuzu. Anyone have any input on this?
More progress..
I got the front fenders in the other day. As you can see from the pics these will allow alot more tire at stock ride height. They are the same amount of flare as the stock ZR2 flares but much bigger opening.
Here is one of the gear motors that I bought on ebay. They are...
The silver tube is one of my projects. It's a lakester land speed car that I am building for a customer. It started as an auxiliary fuel tank for an F16. The brit cars are my shop mates customers.

Just bought 2 of these. With just a basic acme thread jack, I can raise the top in under 7 minutes with the flip of a switch. With some creative linkages I think these have...
Nice! I am thinking of maybe changing my mounts around to a 3 point setup to keep the truck from twisting the camper box. I am going to do some tests first to see how much flex I get though.
Contemplating a lift mechanism now. Thinking acme rods inside a couple tubes to make a home made linear actuator. I found some gearmotors on ebay that have 1/4 HP at 41rpm output speed and draw up to 23 amps each. This should easily lift the roof but by my math it will take 10 minutes with 8 TPI...
Nice! Yeah I looked at the TSL also. Hoping to not spend too much but I hope as a camper, I won't shred the tires as bad as I used to. I will probably be buying new wheels to widen the stance a little so I will step up to a 16 or 17 inch wheel for better options. Any recs on basic steel wheels...
I realized that I posted in the wrong section before so I am reposting this build here. Mods feel free to delete my other thread. Thanks

So I have finally started on this build. I got the bed and rear glass removed to start with. Then I ordered some baja style front fenders to help fit 35" tires as well. They should be in this week. Then I got to work on the frame. So far I have a basic floor frame and I have all the material on...
Good stuff so far. I am not looking to copy anyone's patent. Just using existing methods for inspiration. Whatever I come up with will likely be sort of like something that has already been done. I will be building my own camper from scratch. I am a fabricator so I plan on doing it all myself.
I will be building my own pop up and was looking for any pics that people have of their campers pop up mechanisms, improvements they have made, etc... I have several ideas swirling around in my head. I have looked through the entire pic thread for pop ups and alot of that was very helpful but I...
Been sorting through alot of pics and ideas and I think I will head in the direction of hard sided. The XP Camper V2 is just about exactly what I want. Lifting only one end simplifys things a good bit.
Let me start out by saying... WOW! This site is pretty awesome!!
Anyway I am in the planning stages of building my own rig out of my trusty S10 ZR2 extended cab truck. I have owned the truck since new and it has always been my adventure vehicle. I have reached a point in life where I want a...
