Also I took some measurements the other day when I took the camper off the truck. I jacked up corners of the truck until it lifted wheels to simulate off road flex. Then I measured across from the top of the cab to the opposite frame corner. Never saw more then a half inch difference. I believe...
I am looking into building some of my own windows for my camper build. I called a local place about providing made to order panels and to my surprise the price wasn't crazy. For starters I am wanting to build a large tilt open vent window that will sit on the roof over the bed. I want to build...
More progress on the lift motors. I am basically building home made linear actuators. These Bodine gear motors put out 300 in/lbs at 42rpm so that is way more torque then needed for this application but I got a great deal on the motors on Ebay. They are new and known to be bullet proof. They...
The synchronizing thing interests me but I wonder how necessary it really is. I ran one of my lift motors yesterday to time how long it takes to travel the needed height. It takes 1:50 to move 16". I am thinking it would be simple and cheap to just have 2 momentary toggle switches, one for each...
I am building my own actuators. Just mounted the gear motors. You can follow progress in my build thread. The motors are overkill but also known to be bulletproof and I got them for super cheap. Attaching acme thread and welding nuts into some tube that will ride up the acme rod.
Let's hear who is doing the fab work now. They look like they do nice work and their shop looks awesome! Anyone with a fab table like in the pics means business.
Here is the top section in place, in the closed position. I should have most of it's structure done this weekend. Pretty soon it will be time to start skinning the outside.
A bit more progress. Ran out of tube again so I just ordered more. These pics show the camper in the open position and I am starting to build the inner structure that the roof structure will nest over. Next I will be on to the lift mechanism, windows, then skinning the frame on the outside.
I started another build thread as this one is in the wrong section. Here is the other thread.. http://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/threads/144522-1999-Chevy-S10-ZR2-Camper-build/page3
Panic fan?
Yeah I will eventually go with a 16" or bigger wheel. That will probably happen when...
Yeah I never transport firewood for that reason. Even when there is no quarantine. Pretty much everywhere I plan on going with this rig will have firewood available in the woods. If not, like maybe some desert situations, no fire.
