Welding up circular holes sucks.... I got all the speed holes in one frame rail welded. That was much harder than I would have thought. Welding around in a circle is not easy at all! Overall they are decent and will hold together, but they are not what I would call pretty! I took a picture...

1.25" OD on the drag link. Mine is solid material. I will have to check on the bend angle. I just did it in the press till it fit :)

Its fairly easy to do the crossover as long as you keep all the measurements I used the same :) There is a good thread on DTR about low lift crossover steering that I have been helping with. A gentleman over there tried to use a Nortwest Fab kit. He has had to find other parts. The magic formula...

Thanks, I figured that cutting the frame after would get it just a bit closer. Now I just need to get it square when I weld in the bumpers/cross-members. I am thinking that I might cut two lengths of bar stock to the proper length to span the distance between the spring hangers from left to...

Then I flipped the rails over and welded the other side. I used the clamps to pull the joint as tight as possible. Then I welded the 2nd rail on the top and bottom..... Once the frame rails where welded I bolted them together with the spring hanger mounts. I was able to use the aluminum...

Today I started putting together the new frame.... First thing I did after I checked that the table was level 'enough' was to lay out all the main rail parts. Since they are symmetrical I was able to lay them out 'top to top' and everything wanted to nest together pretty good without too many...

I had some that looked similar but they where total junk. The mirrors on my truck now where gifted to me. They are original 1974 GM mirrors that are stainless steel oem quality. They don't shake or rattle.

I had to drag some stuff home last Saturday to help with the build.... I picked up a used 4x8 welding table and a new engine hoist since I had to return my loaner after moving. The table has a nice 3/8" thick top. I need to get out a long level and see how flat I can get it. I hope the table...

What gears, tire size and fuel type are you guys runnin?

I probably run the oddest combo. 1992 dodge with the Cummins and 5spd manual. 3.54 gears and 38.5" tires that measure out pretty tall ( 38"+ on truck at 50psi ). The truck consistantly gets 19-21mpg. I have some documentation in my thread of this. It high geared enough that I use 4th and 5th on...

    New Superwinch Talon Series

How is the free-wheel drag on these winches? A lot of the specs look REALLY good.... -In the synthetic line versions the 9500lb winch is only 65lbs! The 12.5 is only 68lbs! -The brake is also not in the drum, this is really the best for synthetic line, especially if you are trying to power...

I couldn't even buy the sheet of plate for the top with my discount through work for what I paid for the entire table. It also came with casters but I removed them to get the table rolled over and in the truck. It took me about 10-11 hours to go up and get the table, I don't think I could have...

    Project: Doitall Dodge

The Doitall has been earning its keep lately.... 600lb+ 4'x8' welding table with a 3/8" thick top I picked up used in Grand Junction. I also had to pick up an engine hoist at Harbor Freight to load the table while I was in town. I had to return my loaner hoist so now I have my own again...

NICE!!!! No 4bt hate here....other than its a tall engine and makes packaging difficult.

    An idea....CJ8+

Thanks for the ideas. I'm pretty happy overall with my dodge, but dang. I wish I could shrink it down in size a little bit overall. If my dodge had a 4bt in it instead of a 6bt I would REALLY consider dumping the guts of the truck into something smaller. The CJ8+ idea works out really well...

Anyone drive the new Wrangler yet?

Source? AEV listed the ProCal as still working on the 2012. Edit: I did a little more digging, guess the procal will do tire size but not gearing. A new update to the procal is coming to correct the new issue.

Anyone drive the new Wrangler yet?

Yup, that was basically why I asked :) I hear the 2dr sport models with the small tires and 3.73 gears are rocket ships....

Modifications/preventive measures for 12+ day desert expedition...?

A few things..... Carrying that much fuel is not practical on or in the vehicle. That much weight WILL cause problems. You need to look at other options. A trailer might be the best option. You could also pre-position fuel at a location, perhaps turning the trip into a multi-stage trip. In...
