    The center mounted winch thread....

One cool benefit to a center mounted winch is that the line is not spooling directly onto the drum in extreme side pulls. With the proper hawse or roller at the end of the vehicle you can pull 90 degrees to the chassis without damaging the line OR having the line bunch up on some side of the...

4" hole saw. If you can find one to borrow all the better, they are not super cheap.

This was one of those little neat modifications..... Drill 1/4" pilot hole in heater box...... Use 4" hole saw to make 4" hole..... Hey look, a big hole in my heater box! Clean out all the fuzz bunny's, leaves, pine needles, etc.... Find cool plastic plugs in McMaster...

So what is the next big project.......... For those that might be coming from other boards or don't get around to the other sections of the 'portal much here is the idea I have been thinking about for some time...

Thank you! I'm trying to figure this stuff out. I think I have most of the parts figured out, but there are still some holes. I am still recovering from my tire/wheel purchase so the winch will be a little bit off :) Welcome to the board too! Currently I am researching winch options. In a...

All the little things...... I was missing some hardware on my grille install last night. These little mounts hold the bottom corners of the grille from rattling. I have no idea what the factory hardware looked like so I made my own. I raided the bolt bin and made these little contraptions...

83 K5 Blazer Expedition rig build up, Finally!

I wouldn't hesitate to fully box the frame. I'm sure its not super easy, but I think in the long term it would be worth it. Most 52" spring conversions use rear springs in front with a much softer rate. I'm sure any rate can be built. A long spring doesn't have to be a sloppy spring. The...

83 K5 Blazer Expedition rig build up, Finally!

You could always buy some aftermarket front fenders and section them like I did my dodge. That way they would be all steel..... I'm sure someone that was good at body work could do a much better job than I did if you want the body to be perfect when you done. The inner fenders would also...

83 K5 Blazer Expedition rig build up, Finally!

Looking at all the pictures of the Chaos Fab blazer....I don't think the rear bedsides are fiberglass. There doesn't seem to be any bulge at all....just a crisp straight body line. Those fiberglass bed sides are nice though.....

I say buy the tires and see if they fit BEFORE you do any suspension or axle stuff. Even if the lug pattern is going to be different, a cheap steel wheel on the stock axles will tell you a LOT for a minimal investment. You will also have a much better understanding of where everything is going...

Sand, sand, paint, paint....... Then I installed a new shell, insert, turn signals, painted some more, tried to find all the screws to put it back together, and installed the bumper at like 6am before I went to work.... Boy....that is shinny! It looks like 100% better I think. I am...

83 K5 Blazer Expedition rig build up, Finally!

I would try for less lift. That chaos fab blazer is running 37s with VERY minimal lift, maybe 1-2" max. It has front 'glass fenders, but the rear looks pretty darn stock. My Dodge works GREAT with very limited lift and big tires. The height difference from the tires is minimized as much as...

If your still shopping, look for a 2003 GM 14-bolt rear axle. They use the same old style 14-bolt gears and lockers, but have factory disc brakes with the internal hat style parking brake. The are 67" wide also, a pretty good match for the D60 front.
