Have you considered starting with a late model Dodge van like this:

and swapping out the front end sheet metal for the 1970's look? *Might* be easier than moving all the power train, dashboard, and electrical from a newer van to the older...
Without seeing the van this is just a general comment, but I'd look under the van for the best place to bolt through, and then modify the seat frame to make that work. Adding metal to make the frame wider, longer, or whatever is needed, by welding to the seat frame seems easier then working in...
Don't let being 2wd stop you from going. Hardcore? I don't know. I'm driving paved roads all the way there and back... :smiley_drive: Won't need any 4x4 for this trip!
So who's taking their van to the WA Overland Rally next month? I'll be there with my SMB. I'm hoping to see full size vans, Astro's, VW's, Delica's, or just about anything on four wheels that looks like a box!

Wow... My brain just went CLUNK... Talk about 'different"! Makes me wonder, if a person bought a cheap used Lesharo, and a used Ford 7.3 diesel powered cutaway chassis van, (sell the box on the cutaway if it has one) could you drop the RV part of the Lesharo on the Ford van chassis???.... Cut...
Wellll, what ARE you going to do to that Transit??? Just curious. I love small vans and "panel truck" type vehicles and have considered all sorts of projects with them. I wonder why I don't see a lifted Honda Element with a poptop? I have seen the Element poptop, and I know there is a lift, but...
I saw that the park could be rented for weddings. It made me wonder how, if wedding guests came from both countries and met there in the park, that the Border Patrol could keep track of who came from where, and did anyone leave gifts with someone from the other country?...
I walked from the Washington park lot to just south of the BC park lot and saw no one paying any attention to me because of it. I wouldn't be surprised if someone was watching me, through a long lens no doubt, :Astrologist: but since I wasn't doing anything but walking around snapping a few...
I went up to Blaine this morning to look at the parking at Peace Arch park for a possible M&G. I didn't drive across the border. I parked in the Peace Arch WA State Park lot and walked across to the kitchen dining area in the BC Park area, not quite to the BC side parking lot. There were a fair...
"Go buy a little Vitara and pack it full of some clothes, a few spares and then go see what lies beyond the horizon. . . "
Nice quote, Scott. Great to see the Suzuki Vitara on the list. I'm not surprised most people have not mentioned it in their responses. Suzukis are too underdog and not sexy...
I have been to the park in the past and was free to wander around the grass area, which is the large majority of the park, on both sides of the border. The park is located between the border inspection stations on I-5 for the USA and Canada. I don't know if you can park in the Canadian parking...
I downloaded Photomatix a few years ago and played with it a bit then. I was trying to process HDR photos to make them look "realistic" to me, as in, what my eye would see in a scene that was beyond what the dynamic range of a camera could capture.
