    Southeast/Central Oregon trip

Hi Paul, I was just looking at your Vancouver Island photos on your Pbase site. Very nice photos. And I looked at your Owyhee and Steens photos again too. We seem to be covering a lot of the same turf! Have you checked out the Northwest Overland Society group? I've meet a few of them and it...

    Southeast/Central Oregon trip

Thanks for the kind words. I won't deny our dog Angus is spoiled, but he is gonna be 15 next month, so on hikes we have to be ready when he runs out of gas... He hikes well still, and being a Terrier he just won't give up, but if he goes too long he gets really stiff the next day. I was...

Lightweight Expedition Options (Element, RAV4, Suzuki)

Another direction for small? Here's a brainstorm I have been thinking about for a small outside package with room inside, and 4x4, and low range: http://www.cardomain.com/ride/254525/2 http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2614230 I like the idea. Not sure how they drive or ride, but I'd love to...

    Random dog shots

This is Angus, a 15 year old Cairn Terrier. A recent trip to Hells Canyon was a bit too hot for him! He prefers the cooler Washington coast weather. Lots of little dog attitude in him, but he's the best dog ever.

    Hells Canyon Trip

4x4 Sportsmobile fuel mileage I filled the van up again after we got home, and with 1,828.2 miles since I started this round of tracking the mileage, it is now at 15.8 miles per gallon average. The previous lower number of 14.27 was figured after we had spent quite a bit of time on mountain...

Any Sportsmobile'ers in Utah this weekend?

Well, I have a Sportsmobile and went to last years rally in Colorado. I couldn't make it to this year's. I was out four wheeling yesterday, but no where near Utah... Brian Rutherford

    few quesions for Mr. Badger

While we wait for Eric to answer, I'll throw out a little info from my 1.5 years with our Sportsmobile. It is also diesel with the SMB 4x conversion. One thing I really like about the SMB 4x conversion is the tight turning radius. It's actually tighter than the stock 2x van. I have not used the...

    Hells Canyon Trip

I did see your photos before we left. Very similar route up until you headed south. They helped me to picture the scenery better, as I hadn't seen many photos of the area beyond ones showing Hells Canyon itself. I think you would have been fine on the dirt and gravel road from Grande Ronde to...

    Hells Canyon Trip

Yep, we passed through Joseph to get fuel about midway through the trip. Nice little town. Seems to be doing well on tourists but it wasn't too tacky! Paid the most for fuel there on the whole trip. Diesel was $3.05 a gallon. Most elsewhere it was $2.99. Regards, Brian Rutherford

    Hells Canyon Trip

Hi all, We are back from six days exploring the Hells Canyon area. Photos are posted on our Pbase site: http://www.pbase.com/railbat/june_07_hells_canyon_trip We had a great trip. Good weather, with only one really hot day (which wouldn't have been hot if we were up on the mountain ridges and...

    Seattle area suggestions

If you have the time, I'd suggest doing a loop over the Cascades. From Seattle, you can head north on I-5, then east via Highway 20, and 153, and then south down the Columbia River to Wenatchee on 97, and back west over Highway 2. This is a great way to sample some of the states varied scenery...

    Oregon loop - May

Oregon trip route I'm looking forward to hearing about the trip. We are headed to either Hells Canyon or the greater John Day area in late June. Trip route depends on the weather and snow melt on the roads. The Hells Canyon area is hard to judge road conditions due to the large elevation...
