We picked one up from Costco just before we left the states (back in February). This table rocks! It takes up hardly any space, easy to clean, and it's pretty sturdy (had to use it as a ladder one time).
Have you considered building a bed extension to fit under the Flippac? At the bottom of the extension, it could angle up from where your bed ends, replacing your tailgate and boxing in the edges. At the top the edge would meet the rear corner of the Flippac. It could even be designed to...
It certainly has been eye-opening already. We feel our attitudes, daily needs, and abilities to deal with obstacles is constantly evolving. We can't wait to see what this all accumulates into by the end of the trip and it's exciting to see what doors it will open for us after our journey is...
First Taste of the Mainland
Our ferry arrived in Mazatlan early the next morning and we spent about half a day exploring the city before heading south to San Blas, Nayarit. It was nice to finally make it to mainland Mexico and switch from desert to lush coastline.
San Blas was one of...
Maybe it'll be my job (Shannon) to bring the audience up to speed when we've had a lack of blog writing. It's been a while so I'll have to thumb through some pictures and journal entries to remember it all.
Fellow travelers mentioned that when you're on a trip like this, time really...
Glad I could help. I'd love to see what you come up with on the rear window.
I really wanted to do something similar before we left the states, since it's only inevitable at some point the rear window on our 1st Gen will fail. Ultimately I didn't have the time to find a graceful...
You may want to talk to WagonGear.com
Not exactly what you're looking for, but I remember seeing a similar project done on Kevin's 60-series. He swapped in an access window for the rear-most window. He's done some pretty awesome stuff to his LC that might get your wheels turning. Here's his...
Amen to that, it was a real pain in the butt preparing our 4runner for this trip because I was still using it to get to work every 3rd day. I should've just rode a bike instead :sombrero:
Blasphemy!
Haha, congrats on the new addition to the Toyota family. LC's are definitely more kiddo friendly so it makes sense. I'm not sure if I'd still love our 4Runner as much if it didn't have AC.
We love Mesa Verde!
Great shot from inside the underground kiva, all of our pictures in that room turned out like crap! Glad to hear you guys are going to get back on that horse in 6 months...
Good advice! Also a good idea to carry two cards of different carriers, ie Mastercard AND Visa. We wanted to open a Mastercard account just in case we had problems with our VISA, but we ran out of time. Oh well...we carry extra US cash and pesos in our safe just in case. It's already bailed...
Where's all the high-mileage, beat up 1st-Gen. 4runners?
Here's ours...
it's our daily driving, grocery getting, one-and-only home sweet home in Latin America.

We haven't bumped into them yet, we're still in Central Mexico. We're doing some Muskoka stuff right now in Guanajuato, but we're moving on next week. We've gotta hurry up if we wanna make the Ushuaia party!
Best news ever
That's awesome guys, keep up the dream. Now we know that we'll definitely be able to catch up!
Shannon and I have always been curious, what did you and Lacey do for a living before you left on your trip?
Sure can. That flexible hose can really stretch, but it kinda struggles to reach that rear left tire.
We haven't needed it yet, but I kept imagining that exact scenario in my head (Final Destination style). After threading the security cable through the waffleboard to lock down the jerry...
I guess we're really doing this...
We might as well add our names to the list. Brenton & Shannon driving from Texas to Patagonia, zig-zagging all the way across the Americas. We're currently taking our time through Mexico, but we'll get there eventually. After South America there's a strong...
