Hey Andy-
Yes. All our racks are aluminum. We do have a couple of 100 Series racks in stock. Mounts into a set of rails that are bolted on the roof (as opposed to the gutter mount on the 80 Series). No drilling needed--bolts right into the factory bolt holes. Very easy to install.

Hi there-
We've got two young boys (3 & 5). We've built up a 2010 Tacoma TRD double cab such that it can haul a TON of gear (quite literally). We've got a Hannibal rack on the roof, and a custom aluminum tent rack over the bed (with a 1.6M tent on it). We've got aluminum gear decks...
Here are some pics of our 2010 TRD that we've been building up for expedition travel. Some cool goodies:
*Hannibal Roof Rack
*Prototype Aluminum Tent Rack (we'd like to start manufacturing these. Please contact me if you're interested)
*Prototype Aluminum Gear Decks/Camp Tables. These mount...
The standard mounting hardware for the awnings is designed to go on a Hannibal rack, but the AO racks appear to be very similar. The interior dimensions of the mounting clamp (where it clamps onto the rack) is 2" tall x 1" wide. The other thing to consider is the length of the rack. You'll need...
I'm not certain on snow weight capacity. There's supposed to be 6"-10" of snow here this weekend. Maybe I'll leave the awning open and see how it does. I'll keep you posted.
Hey Herbie-
The velcro straps are not what holds the parallel arms in place (they just keep the awning from flapping in the wind). When you roll out the awning, there is 1.5" aluminum tube sewn into the end (which spans the width of the awning) which has fittings on each end that fit snugly...
By popular demand, I've posted a couple of short videos on YouTube demonstrating how a Hannibal awning is deployed and packed (in this case, with nearly frostbitten finger tips, and the scenic backdrop of the Cox Cable equipment yard in Omaha). These videos won't win any Academy Awards, but will...
Hey Chris-
Thanks for the note. Too bad we missed you while we were in Arizona. We'll be in Tucson in March for the Land Rover rally, and hope to have an extended stay down there before and after OvEx. We'd love to hook up with you any of those times. I went to school at the U of A and we have...
Thanks for the note! Glad to hear your enjoying the awning. We're plowing through our first shipment of those.
It's probably for the best that my boys didn't see how I got the rope to the top on this one (would have learned some bad habits). It's amazing how intuitive rock climbing is to young...
Just got back from a great road trip to Arizona that was equal parts business and equal parts pleasure (although I must say that meeting the Overland Journal staff was more pleasure than it was business...thanks to the Overland Journal crew for a really nice visit). A big part of the trip was to...
If you're into the idea of kayaking, you should definitely look into some lessons from Ben Kvanli down in San Marcos. We run a kayaking school up in Omaha, and take groups down to San Marcos to get a taste of whitewater (and to escape the frozen corn fields). Ben is an awesome instructor. He...
Hoping to Do this Trip
Hey there-
I'm really hoping to get down there with Ben in a few weeks. Ben is a great guy. Looks like an amazing trip. Thanks for the story, the pictures (and the extra motivation!).
Dan
Hey Nate-
Listed prices do not include shipping (although I lived in Eugene for 4 years, so you could probably talk me into delivering one to your front door!). Thinking about a Rogue trip this summer and running shuttle on the logging roads along the river.
