Post pictures of your first generation Monteros/Pajeros!

My hood is blacked out but it's no different than having a black vehicle. I choose black to keep glare down especially when using the roof top lights. Glad you're not keeping the diamond plate all shiny, someone might think you were driving a jeep.... I can vouch for the getting of ******** from...

    1989 Montero Build

See if Jasper engines has something for you. To start, I'd Ditch the idea of a high flow cat unless one is needing to be replaced. You won't see much of any improvement anywhere. I'd also not do an electric cooling fan either. There is not much benefit in that as it just uses amps that could...

    Montero Sport- transmission problems common?

Transmission rebuilds are an art form. I really wouldn't use AAMCO, but since you did and they are the ones doing the warranty you're gonna have to see it through. As offroader said, Mitsu transmissions are very stout and it is very uncommon to have issues with them. If they did a rebuild and...

    Rack-it Racks

If you need one of these and the price it right, you may be able to just put a good coating of black spray paint on it to keep it from rusting. Like Haggis said, they are a bit heavy so before adding it, be sure it will be needed. As I always say, build it the way you will need it because the...

Need vehicle suggestions for around $3000

Good idea passing up the 97. I don't know why but something didn't seem "right" about it from looking at the ad.On the 99 I would suspect the shocks are probably shot as this seems to be the most commonly ignored maintenance item on any vehicle. Check out the tire brand and quality before you...

Need vehicle suggestions for around $3000

If it was my money, I'd get the 99. Believe it or not, the power steering fluid treatment that Lucas makes does very well with Power steering pump whine. Might be worth a try if you need to put the pump replacement on hold. The thing with the first Disco is that you don't know everything that...

You and me both sir. It surely may have ended with my untimely demise. Funny you should bring this thread back up as I will have to venture under my rig today and tomorrow. Gotta do my slider install....

    Snorkel

You can use water, but I have used transmission fluid in the past. It breaks up carbon a lot better. When the engine is at full throttle, water won't hurt it too much. So long as it doesn't happen all the time.

Scangauge II - Has anybody installed them?

I know someone that has one in his built up tacoma. It seems to work great and is very useful to him. If I could get one for my Gen 2 I would, but I don't think they work for mine.

Who still makes oil cooler lines?

If they still make lines for my 95, they should definitely still have yours. You can always call around other dealerships and see if they will work with you and just have them mail it. I did both of my lower ones so I won't have to do it again later. The fasteners can be difficult to break loose...
