What ONE piece of recovery gear will you never leave home without?

Okay for real. The best recovery tool is your buddy's rig. Always take a buddy. This is by far THE most important recovery tool. I also take an E-tool, a Highlift with a lift mate and a platform to lift off of. some straps and a hand winch to get it on all 4 tires if need be. Also, having a...

    1995 Montero SR Build

Not sure buddy. My best advice would be to wait for off-roader to chime in. He has experience with the SR. If I was there in person, I could be a lot more help. I don't want to take a blind stab at this one just to give false hope you know. Other than what I said earlier, the only other thing...

    1995 Montero SR Build

Are you sure that your battery and charging system are functioning properly? Sometimes low voltage can throw a few codes here and there. Most of how the PCM determines it needs to throw a code is due to low voltage consistency in that particular area. Glad I don't have to deal with ABS codes...

Installed my limb risers! Pictures inside

Thanks man. I doesn't take much money at all. Just time. Like I said, mine has been an ongoing project that has lasted around 2 years with the most work happening in the last 6 months. The black areas on the truck with the exception of the wheels are bed liner spray from a can. The hood louver...

Preference: Manual or Automatic for off road in your Mitsu...

AND dishes and I can cook well. I also give my fiance' pedicures and stuff. Not to mention that I occasionally let her take the wheel on certain trails. Yeah, I'm a keeper.

    Optima Battery Problems

Gonna have to pitch in again and hopefully help everyone out. For those who have had good experiences with Optima, that's great because so have I. For those that didn't, I am sure it left a bad taste in your mouth. I understand because I have been there and yes it does suck when something...

Preference: Manual or Automatic for off road in your Mitsu...

Yeah I don't mind people that are different from me unless it affects my well being. I actually have 3 gay friends and they are some of the nicest people I know. Just years of turning wrenches has gotten to where it makes me cringe when someone says it. I mean, I guess some people say it to...

Preference: Manual or Automatic for off road in your Mitsu...

I'll just say what I said before. I hate replacing manual transmission clutches. My left leg likes having an automatic on the trails. Not to mention the these rigs come with Aisin automatic transmissions. BTW, I really hate it when people call transmissions "trannys". It's just weird. You know...

    Optima Battery Problems

Yeah, alternator boxes say the same thing. Technically, alternators do not have the capacity to "charge" a battery. Only to keep it charged and support vehicle electronics and ignition systems. Bad alternators cause bad batteries and bad batteries cause bad alternators.

Need vehicle suggestions for around $3000

HAHAHA! You know that stuff only works on the Mall Crawler crowd. Did you know that they put those badges on the patriots and compasses? That's just like putting it on the dodge caliber. Next thing you know, they'll put them on the avengers.

    Look what I got!

That's exactly what I did. I painted the stock wheels black and stuck my 33 10.5s on. I love getting the most out of what I have. Not to mention that they are lightweight, fit perfect, are tough, and I don't have to shell out a bunch of money for 5 rims when I already have 5 perfectly fine rims.

x2 I actually prefer an auto for off road use. And yes, the tires play a MAJOR part in off road performance considering that they are the only things actually touching the ground.

'94 SR FS: what should I look for?

Part number is MB620532. Its called a valve free wheel clutch solenoid. Cost about 100 bucks. This is original mitsu part. Mine had the blink issue as well and this fixed it. They are the most common cause of the 4wd upper lights blinking. the solenoid can be found on the passenger side wheel...
