i do agree. only concern i could see would be the airflow to the radiator. but as stated, the fan should pull enough thru, unles the tire is too close to it, or the fan isnt working correctly
they are stable. the plan jane M998 (basic, non-armored HMMWV) only weighs about 5600lbs. the very basic uparmor one is 9000lbs.
then there is the full uparmor that can be up to 14000+ lbs
then you get a turret on that like this one,
what i've seen, that warn grill guard is about 85lbs with out winch. and he did say if there would be a winch on there or not. but yea, that is a good bit of weight added to the front
these two are great points. but having the fan running alot (non-electric units) would put more load on the motor. not always an issue, but could be if pulling a large enough trailer up big enough mountain.
if the grill guard is ment to hold and support a winch, holding a tire should not be a...
Wait till it its a gun mount, turret, turret wall... HMMWV's are tipsy as hell with all that ****. Many have flipped in iraq and afg with all that crap on top, and drivers that dont know how to really drive....
tire rack has been good to me. firestone shop back in tenn was able to get two of the tires i have now when no one in town had the size i wanted ina dcent tread for a street tire. but then right before the move to Ga, no one could get matching tires for me with out back order. local tire shop...
actually, i havent gotten to running the truck side power cables yet. lol. the connecter is just sitting on the bumper. planing on swapping stock battery terminals out for milspec ones, then wire in the winch cables.
Good points, snake. Something like that is why i'd rather use good strap to loop onto the tow point of the truck.
And the pic of the two strap ends on the hook? Pretty dumb move anyway. Put the strap ends on a shackle then hook the shackle.
This pic shows both sets, 8ft and 24ft. SmittyBilt makes them and they are sold thru 4wheelparts.com. i can try to get the actual link, but i'm on my cell now. Can be founder under winches - then its like assoerys or something, then power cables. Each set has a short side that is about equal...
Black_ZJ, that one probably hase the highest rating of any of the others i found, @4000lbs. Most were 3500lbs. The DRH3 is rated for 5000lbs, and i'm sure i could easily get someone to brace that up some more.
