So after many, many months of research and design I decided to jump into the complicated world of a swing out and drop down tire carrier for my F 250. I wanted a rear bumper that was better than stock with some recovery points on it, but more importantly I wanted the space occupied by the spare...
Re; Bolt type
It is technically an elevator bolt, that particular one looks manufactured for the L track, US cargo control has the stud fittings available or you can also try these: http://http://www.cargoequipmentcorp.com/Wheelchair-Tie-Down-Sure-Lok-p/fe200739.htm I use 4 of these on the L...
Re lo pro vent
I use a 9" x 14" hongs rv roof vent: manual open and it is stable open as little as 1/2" and can open to 6" for power venting I have a 12v computer fan; chosen for noise control, this one is a 120 mm with 24 cfm flow but only makes 42 dB of noise. Mounting for the fan was...
Absolutely, sorry it has taken me months to get back to you, Crazy season at the Vilar Center; been working on my onboard air system, grill, mirrors, wheels and tires for the past few months
I Have a 24 volt Webasto DBW 2020 diesel fired coolant heater for sale; It has been restored and I am adding parts to it to make a complete system. For those that do not know here is a link to webasto's manual: http://www.techwebasto.com/heater_main/699540.pdf The heater is about 10 years old...
Hey hows it going thought I would say hi, since I work up at the vilar center and a few of us do Moab and several red and white mtn trips in the summer.
Cheers,
Erik
Re; Lockable
Same here on that one. I have an ARE DCU series and pinned the rear fold down T handle just so I can't get trapped inside. A serious consideration if you ever camp anywhere that security could be questionable-even overnighting in parking lots. My suggestion would be to use a...
Re Mobile fab shop
Well...you could try the miller passport plus, it is not very cheap but it has the ability to run on battery power: http://www.millerwelds.com/products/mig/millermatic_passport_plus/ and might do the trick for you. As for shop power, golf cart batteries would be the way to go...
Re; Fuses
I cannot recommend the Blue Sea ML relay enough, I went through (read fried) several solenoids before I went to this system and it is safe, redundant (if you get the unit with the manual option; http://bluesea.com/category/2/productline/388 ) and it will keep you happy years down the...
Re Electrical Shop in LA area
Hello,
I would recommend either Pacific Performance Engineering (see below) in Placentia-they are more of a car audio shop that moved to Diesel performance items, but they have access and knowledge to do whatever you need in this regard, others would be...
Re Engel batt drain
Yes it can be that simple, I run a marine refer converted into a 100 qt igloo with supplemental insulation and it is at least a 10awg x 20' supply wire feeding the fridge. I would also recommend that when it is time to change batteries you consider either an odessy or...
Re; Swing out bike Carrier
Hi dustboy,
I have a prototype design of a dual tire carrier/bike rack; I think the idea is feasible for either MTB or Enduro...It is entirely a function of the length of your swingout, the amount of weight (either one or two bikes) and the type of pivot you choose...
Re who makes it...
based on that white hitch mount I would likely say that it is this manufacturer: http://www.excelsails.com/college.htm#T5-21
Great Idea for the basecamp antenna; perfect application; I would highly recommend that you put a lightning arrestor on that antenna coax since you...
Re DCU build
Nice Job Bella,
I have a DCU that I am working; the aluminized insulation works well on these, and it cuts down on the locks jamming quite a bit, plus it helps a lot with the colder days. If you fur out the aluminum skin with wood it will cut down on condensation as well.
Aluminum DCU insulation
the basic structure I have going in the DCU is:
Aluminum inside skin
3M High strength 90 & liquid Nails
First layer of 1" R7 aluminized foam insulation
3M High strength 90 & liquid Nails
second layer of 1" R7 aluminized foam insulation
this combination went into all...
inspiring build on your pop up. Not sure if you have solved your thermal bridging issues in the roof yet, but if you haven't; what worked exceptionally well for me was a butyl rubber compound that Home Depot or other home improvement centers carry for applying to door flashings prior to...
Re; Aluminum topper insulation
Hey, how is it going, I saw this thread the other day, I don't have any pictures to post as of yet because there are many and I need to re size them, you can find me on facebook to see the build progress. I am using an ARE DCU series topper with an aluminum skin...
