1992 f150 daily driver and adventure rig.

That's a lot of work for a somewhat minimal change but I understand completely. Id maybe go down to a 3.73 or 4.10 to justify it. 35s wouldn't hurt either ;-). My 2wd 2.73 gears are atrocious. I had the opportunity to wring it out last year.. I was pulling at least 5,500 lbs with maybe 2,000...

https://limaohio.craigslist.org/cto/5454153522.html Great info. Found an 89 f-350 dually dump with a 4.9l and a40d! Says the engine and trans has been replaced...wonder if it came stock? Other than that I've seen 60s dump trucks with the 6. Pretty amazing what that old dog'll do.

Oops just reread the last sentence of your post. So a semi-floating 10.25 is missing that awesome giant hub, eh? Mine was possibly a 10.25....hmm.. How much would a full floater increase the payload by?

It had the mazda 5 speed? Lol I guess anything is possible with Ford, but I'm pretty sure my 88 4x4 f-250, 5.8l with c6 trans and 3.55 gears had an 8.8 and I can't remember whether or not it had a leaf sprung 44 or 50... It was before I knew my Ford stuff but the rear looked exactly like my 150...

Yeah the 7.3s are awesome. If I ever abandon the big six, I think that engine would be my choice. They're both pretty slow so Id get a turbo for the idi if I went that route. I've seen a lot of 250s with the I6 and even some 302s but they all have an 8 lug 8.8. Doesn't seem worth it to me...

Awesome truck green! I absolutely love obs Ford pickups, especially when equipped with the venerable big six. I've pretty much chosen to stick with these trucks, and I've bought at least 5 sub 1k beaters in the past couple of years. I've got a 96 2wd with the 4.9l, m5Od and (eek) 2.73 gears -...

Fullsize Pickups; Half Ton Trucks.........Which & Why

Id go pre 2010 if you arent a fan of imperial probe droids (black boxes) in your vehicle. I know, big brov has our phones tapped, but weve got to curtail this surveillance state wherever possible. Vote with your dollars folks. Get a pre 97 ford if you like functionality and are cheap.

    F150 VS F250

I am of the mindset that less is more. Sure, an overkill 350 w/ a diesel will kick ********, but they are work trucks, and work trucks suck as a daily. It all really depends on what youre doing, and two people w/ a dog would be well served with a half ton. However, I am all about the venerable...

Trying to decide, Keep F350 Crew or go Montero

I cant quite relate when it comes to preparing a journey for a family, but I do understand your apprehension concerning your 350. I would mabye trade it for a crew cab gasser. You said that Nissan felt good, maybe a titan/tundra or CC domestic. Then you could add an adventure suv to the...

    Rig weight

85 f150 - 4x4, 300 CID, 4 speed standard, 8.8 rear dana 44 ttb front with stock sized coopers and 150# me... 4,200 lbs. I was surprised when I saw that number at the scrap yard. Its been a while but thats the number I remember. Its lighter than the trooper I want, which makes me think twice...

    1991 Ford Bronco buildup

Nice bronco, its a shame they dont get built up more often. Im on the fence between a bronco, cherokee and yota 4 bang as my expo build. With a stick, I should be able to get the same mileage, anywhere from 15-20 mpg, with maybe a 2-3 mpg hit on the bronco. However, I figure after I install expo...

Ford Bronco Fullsize 1991 from Europe

This is one of my favorite expo builds. Looks like a great adventure, and those mountains are beautiful! The bronco is an iconic vehicle, and youve made it into a great little home away from home. Your build is inspiring, and has given me much to consider, thanks for sharing.
