Supertramp LT or OEV The Back Country 6.85?

We had a weird interaction with the ST guys at Overland Expo. We decided it was due to a long weekend of them at an event. It happens. We had concerns with the actuators. They said they were preparatory. I have a buddy that used the same ones on a build and had them fail on 3 separate...

    Good time for used EarthRoamer

There's just more of them and more options. For $500k I would order a new Truckhouse. The are nearly 7000lbs lighter and can run LT tires. MPTs suck.

Are there dealers with models actually on lot somewhere?

Fair. It just requires regular attention. Like any budget camper. I will say it lived a hard life between backcountry ski trips in Colorado and moto trips in Baja. Nothing fell off going down the road but things did rattle loose. Some of it was silly things. A couple drawers didn't have latches...

Ovrlnd Camper on F350 CCLB - Overkill?

If you like the truck go for it. My buddy has an OVRLND camper on his F-150. After 2 years the rear springs have started to sag. With the camper and stock size all terrains he's lucky to get 15 and he drives like a grandma. If OVRLND existed when we bought our FWC we probably would have gone...

Are there dealers with models actually on lot somewhere?

Our friends have one. If you're open to doing a little bit of work here and there you'll probably come out ahead on the math. They store it inside and it's still not aging well but it did what they needed it to.

    Any 7.3 gasser owners?

    6.2 is a good option. https://forum.expeditionportal.com/threads/is-an-f250-6-2-v8-gas-reliable-enough.227706/

    2022 Ford F350 Suspension

What size tires do you what to run? 35s fit stock. Even some 37s will clear. If it's in the budget Carli coils really smooth the ride out. We have Alcan leafs in the rear. They are awesome but they aren't cheap. I would also get axle weights. Then check a load inflation chart for your...

Would you buy a 2025 Tundra?

My wife's coworker got one $15k off of MSRP. At that discount it would be hard to pass up. I think it helped she had a low mile Tacoma to trade. At least Toyota has a history of fixing it's mistakes.

    Thoughts: Gen 1 Tundra or new-ish F150?

We were in a similar position in 2019. We wanted to sell our Tacoma and move up to full size. Initially we were shopping f-150s in the 2012 to 2015 range. We had a hard time finding an F-150 that didn't feel clapped out even with less than 50k miles on them. We test drove a '07 Tundra with...

    Ram 2500 Rebel

I say get the heavier coils and install the the heavier rear sway bar. The biggest issue the RAM 2500s have when carrying a camper is the where the coils are located on the truck. While the Rebel might solve your payload issue, it's not going to solve the engineering issue. If anything a...

Impact of Congress voting to sell Federal lands?

I feel like you're equating national Forest/blm with national parks. They are very different.. I've been to state parks in Texas, Arizona, Utah, Wyoming, Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, and Arkansas. None of them even come close to offering any type of dispersed camping, mountain biking, and dirt...

Impact of Congress voting to sell Federal lands?

I'll wait to see if anything actually gets sold off. Most likely there will be more leases sold for resource extraction which in the short term is essentially the same thing but in the long-term leaves the land for public luse. State Management is probably worse if you like open spaces. The...

Anyone disconnect their front sway bar?

It's a completely different scenario. We added heavier springs front and rear to our Tundra and it was still softer than the stock Springs that came on our F250. I added a rear sway bar to the rear of our Tundra to help improve the handling. Loaded with 3,000 lbs our f250 wouldn't touch the top...

Four Wheel Camper - A Review

Good call! That exactly why I wish I had started with a F250. I spent a ton of money making my Toyotas able to carry weight. It F250 has 3500lbs of payload with a 10,000lbs GVWR. Fully loaded we are at 9,600lbs and it handles it like a champ.

Four Wheel Camper - A Review

Check out this build thread. https://forum.expeditionportal.com/threads/2021-ram-3500-tradesman-aev-prospector-fwc-grandby.221431/ Personally I would get a gas truck. While the diesel range is nice and the power is addicting the cost isn't worth it in my opinion.

Four Wheel Camper - A Review

Is it just you or multiple people traveling with you? Decide how much comfort you want. We spent a Thanksgiving freezing around a Mr. Buddy heater and sick of climbing over a tailgate with snowy feet. That's how we ended up with the FWC shell on a Tundra. Our only real option we added to the...

We left our blankets and pillows on the bed in our hawk. We did move the pillows to the middle. Never had an issue. It was a '19.
