classic RANGE ROVER DIESEL CONVERSION UNDER $ 1500 DOLLAR project .

    Jarek, I would guess with a 31" tire you'd have more "seat of the pants" power. what's your rpm at 60 mph? I've got a '70 Ford F100 4x4, 4 speed, with a D300 International out of a '67 715 Combine and it's a slug, but it'll pull like there's no tomorrow. At 20+ mpg's, it's my daily...

LOL, that's my problem too. With 180# to 185# pressure in each cylinder, it's hard to justify.....for now ;)

Eric, I think this is a great project, I love low budget builds. It'll be interesting to see what engineering you come up with. A question though, has the lt230 ever been divorce mounted? A t/c out of a Samurai might be an option. Mercedes diesels used to be cheap here in the PNW, but now...

Red, Thank you very much, for taking the time to make the "how to" video and putting it up for free. Are you salmon fishing in Oregon again?

Yes you're right, forced induction won't lower rpms, but it will increase volumetric efficiency. I think to get to the mpg goal you have, it really should be a consideration...... If anything, there's the cool factor of a turbo run through straight pipes :sombrero: But anyways, what's going to...

Hey Red, very nice work. I've still been lurking. Are the bellhousing pics in #317 the "new" and the "old"? Looks like a beefy bellhousing on the left, what's it from? I agree that your hiway rpm's are too high; but for maximizing efficiency, why haven't you turbo'd it yet? And for others with...

K Eric, is it time to release "the kit" yet? If not, I'd appreciate an emailed template and dimensions on the torque converter spacer too. Thanks, Tom.

Lt, in general, electronic gauges are calibrated to their sending units, so a Rover gauge needs a Rover sending unit. Also, did you not keep your trashed rad. when in CO? Couldn't it just be rebuilt? (or did I miss that) On gauge you guys might want to consider is a pyrometer. That'll tell...

Regarding the over-heating, another option you have is adding a "water wetter" to the coolant. Stock cars can't run antifreeze as it leaves a residue on the track, so racers run a water reducing addative that really works, reducing temps by as much as 25*.

Lt, I know you need a new radiator anyways, as per your CO "adventure". But I really think louvers would help you both alot. Overheating was common with several guys in a Jeep club I belonged to, and most solved their problems by just putting a couple holes on the backside of the hood. An...

UTF is used tranny fluid. a centrifuge is the way to go for cleaning used oils. I'm sure with your machining abilities you could build a nice pneumatic one. Nice job btw. Any thoughts on adapter prices?

so long story short, the ZF shift points are "good"? also, did you run your UTF through a centrifuge?

Aux tank for a Disco1, why buy when you can made your own...

Man RonL, That IS a thing of beauty! And congrats for thinking outside the box. Your speculations of how your tank works are correct, it's been done before. There's some aux tanks in the Diesel world that are setup in similar fasion. And if it does fuel too slow for your tastes, just add...
