    Sure about that?

Land Rover Aluminum Wheels vs Steel Wheels

D1/RRC/Defender for sure. But I think you're right about the D2's because of the funky D2 hubs. One more reason I hate D2's.

Broken Ashcroft HD axles or CVs? Who's done it?

Oh, I'm not saying it could not be done. You can do anything. You can even shave that monstrous tater plow Sal's down a bit. But by the time you're done, you may as wall have installed a Spider9. I guess the bottom line is you can keep your truck looking stock, have a stronger set-up, and...

Land Rover Aluminum Wheels vs Steel Wheels

They all cracked between the inner bead "bump" and the outter bead seat, not at the lugs/hub. They were the "Deep Dish" style found on the D1's. I suspect this type damage came from either side-loading the wheel or grinding the wheel into the rocks with the weight of the truck bearing down. Who...

Broken Ashcroft HD axles or CVs? Who's done it?

I guess I should be a little more clear. It is only common to fit a Sal's to the rear. Putting a Sals in the front is neither cost justifiable or an upgrade. There are at least three variations of the front Sal's axles; coil, leaf, and the 101. There is one more Sal's that was made that was a...

Broken Ashcroft HD axles or CVs? Who's done it?

This makes no real sense at all. A Sal's only fits the back. You're stil left with a pretty crappy front diff. Besides, the Sal's stock axles are pretty weak. You still have to upgrade the axle shafts. By the time it's said-and-done, all you have is a tater plow.

Land Rover Aluminum Wheels vs Steel Wheels

I don't know about the D2 rims, but the D1 alloys did crack. I've had three crack and I'm sure if I dug deep enough I could provide pictures (have posted them before in forums). It still does not keep me from running alloys, though.

Rover Gear and a Beer Ashcroft D2 CVs & 1/2 shafts

I loved the TT in snow. I can't say it's any better than the ARB I have in the front now, but the TT did very well for me. However, I value the ARB over the TT for my use of the truck. But IMO, there is nothing at all wrong with a TT. A TT does affect the handeling of the vehicle, though...
