    @Adrifters - F550 Surf Camper Build - Adrift Motorhome

Interesting! I looked up the Chilewich site and found lots of stuff. The woven mats would be big enough, but can you cut them to shape? Which product from their site did you use, if you don't mind me asking... they have mats, tiles, and more. Thanks!

Ah, yes! Sorry, I was only referencing the micro-inverters to explain the shading issue and attempts to address that. But, as DHW said, they're for grid-tied (grid interactive) installations and require a line connection to which they synchronize - they are not for mobile installations like ours.

M2 Freightliner Ambulance Conversion Project. 2007 Crew Cab

Ah... shading. Just placing an index card on a panel can cut the whole array's output significantly, as can enough bird poop. I did some troubleshooting on some installations of single-panel solar, mounted on telephone poles. Since the panels weren't mounted above the wires, the wires cast a...

I'm also aligned on the air conditioning. The CruiseAir (now Dometic) system in our rig draws 7-8 amps, so about 840-960W when running. I measured this with my clamp-on meter and was actually pleasantly surprised, since it's on a 30 amp circuit. That makes it viable to keep the back cool...

Thanks, Pat. Raising the panels up was certainly done intentionally... since my last career was in renewable energy. :-) As to the panels, I actually transposed two numbers and they're 265W panels (for a total of 795). They're Kyocera KD265 and wired in series, putting about about 100 volts...

And, here are two more photos - one of the lifting-to-the-roof process (thank goodness for the forklift) and one of what it looks like from the side, from our Snowmass trip. Now, to make the other roof rack bits!

Part of our plan includes some rooftop storage and solar. With some deadlines looming for a few camping trips, I squeezed out the time to make some progress in that regard and we now have our 768 Watts of solar on the roof and converting energy for us. We had the rig in Snowmass a couple of...

Having had a set of side cameras on ours for about a year now, I'll say I freakin' love them. Even though this current monitor isn't the best quality, the side cameras mounted above each front tire are so handy. I find I use them more than the mirrors for lane changes. And, for backing and...

And... today, the new camera system came. I'd previously installed a cheapo import that worked okay, but the clarity/resolution wasn't too impressive. Right now, I have two side cameras and a rear camera (plus an unused extra rear camera). This new system will replace those three cameras and...

"No More Projects!", says I. And then...1972 Superior 2200. Couldn't pass it up.

I've been following along and laughing (along with you, not at you!). And then, you snag another project! Well, all I can say, is this will be fun to follow as well. You're like Ozrockrat is with MD ambulances... and a trolley!

Our toilet arrived! Cause for celebration? Maybe... Anyway, the Airhead arrived and it is quite sturdy. This things seems to be popular with the sailing community and has good reviews from them, so my hopes are high.

Ambulance switch labeling ideas or solutions

Haha! Now you know why I guessed scene light master control... the zombie light switch. I was guessing he wanted to turn on 6 scene lights (2 on each side and two on the back... darn, even the math lined up to mislead me!) while still maintaining the ability to switch each one independently...

Ambulance switch labeling ideas or solutions

6-pole... hmm, can I take a guess you want to turn on all the exterior floods with one switch? I've not seen a 6-pole switch, but that can be done with a single-pole switch controlling relays. Depending upon what you want to do, you may also be able to do it with a switch and diodes (if you're...

    1994 International 4700 Conversion Begins

Thanks Scooter. I've been lurking and reading. I have a 4-camera setup now, with a 5-inch screen. But, it's a cheap system and just okay. Based on the discussion here, I ordered a system with a 7-inch screen from RearviewSafety.com so I can be like y'all! I'll post pics in my thread, when I...

Yup! Living in the desert makes one appreciate such things. :-) Exactly my thought, too. We'll not bother with a gauge on the main tank and the smaller one will be a spare/reserve. Plus, there's a 10-gallon tank inside as well. So... related to Java's observation... water's one thing we...

The second water tank arrived, so it gives me a chance to see how the fit together. Product descriptions are all good, but you never know if they're measuring the tank with or without fitting protrusions... or if they hold the tape left-handed or right-handed. I thought these would be close...
