    Volkswagen Vanagon 4x4 Conversion.

Welcome to Boulder! (I live in Louisville) Must be culture shock if you came from one of the poorest counties in Ohio! Vanagons are beautiful and fickle beasts. They are tough as nails in some regards, and fragile as your grandmas china in others (that Syncro tranny is $cary). I know there...

    Transit Opinions Appreciated

Someone above mentioned 33's on an AWD Transit. I'm not sure you can fit a tire that big without cutting metal. One of the limitations that would hinder the offroady-ness... 31"s should go easy, 32"s (?not sure) As far as MPG - I've read the same thing with the ecoboost, that is that they...

Pics of your VAN! Post up!

Ran the Rim Rocker trail last week (East to West). Wife, 14yr old son + one of his friends, and our Boston on board. Arrived in Montrose CO late Wed night, camped near the trail head and then toured the trail for the next 2 days. We cut into the La Sals instead of completing the last section...

The Delica build is sick. Small spaces are much more difficult than the cavernous interior of a Sprinter/Transit. How are the side curtains mounted? I see some slides at the top/bottom of the window... is that some OTS system? Seats look great too. fun fact - I had the very first...

    Transit vs Sprinter

Yup! still have it (and likely will for a long time) And my 'kids' still sleep in the penthouse. They are 21 and 14 and both man-sized. The extra space is welcomed. Like DoKarider16 above, we discussed the merits of both hightop and pop-top a LOT before ordering our van. Like I mentioned...

    STUPID IDEA

ummm, yeah, I don't think the van world is short on added accessories. LOL We call it "Bolt-itis", a condition where the owner of said vehicle is compelled to attach every potential add-on to the outside of the vehicle, then generally not need or use it. Like TWO ladders, multiple light bars...

    Transit vs Sprinter

The pop-top is from Sportsmobile in Austin, TX. From what I've seen, the Austin location does the best finish work (but I haven't seen a lot of others... so ymmv). SMB had three locations, but the CA shop is now some other business. Very easy and fast install in Austin. Biggest reason for...

Odometer reads not in Kilometers or Miles... but in FEET! I swapped 2 sets of snows this last weekend too (not my usual 3 sets, as the Alltrack wore it's summer/'no-season' tires all winter). But, it was ~1200lbs of wheels that I moved (Sprinter and the ID4) You should post a few pics of...

Pics of your VAN! Post up!

Made it out of the Front Range of CO last Wednesday before Snowmageddon 2024 fully hit (16-20" in Denver/Boulder, and 40"+ in the foothills) on our planned trip to Durango/Purgatory ski area. Van load of my wife, 21yr and 14yr old sons, our Boston, and myself. We encountered HEAVY snowfall...

Classy. How much does the empty cabinet weigh? And I assume it will have drawers in most of those spaces(?)

Are the Biggest Tires Possible Worth it on a Van?

In short, yes. I don't have a transit, but I fit the largest tires I could (255/85/16, just under 33") on our 4x4 Sprinter without having to lift. The extra clearance under the pumpkin is nice, and they look sweet too. Bonus on our rig is that the 33" spare still 'fits' in the OEM location...

    Design/Layout Feedback for a First-time Camper build

Just a few notes. Not that I'm a professional up-fitter, but I did build out our van from an empty cargo (with help from my wife and oldest son) - besides the SMB top. We build our van to carry 5 and sleep 4 (or more if that 5th was small and could sleep on the bench). We are a family of 4...
