    My Journey

Another great season of hiking in beautiful places. As always, thanks for taking us along. I'm 58 and downhills also cause my knees to ache. It's the price you pay for an active life. Do the dogs go stir crazy back at the cabin or do they easily slip into life on the couch?

    My Journey

Jerry, thanks for taking the time for the detailed reply. I've known two people who lost dogs due to rattlesnake bites so I'm always overly cautious.

Great pictures Jerry. I know it's probably too cold now, but with all the time you spend in the desert have you ever had problems with the dogs coming across rattlesnakes?

I always give my dogs just a little extra love after seeing post like yours. I think we were very lucky to have found each other. Thank you for doing your best to make those dogs day a little better.

Really like how you just roll with the punches and don't let your physical or mechanical setbacks bring you down. In todays world of constant negativity it's a breath of fresh air. I echo what jameswirl said above. Always look to see if you have posted today before I browse anywhere else. As...

    My Journey

one of the best things about dogs is they love you even when you sometimes do something careless or stupid. You do seem to be having a hard time not injuring yourself on this trip. Time to be a little more careful as a lot of us enjoy living vicariously through you.

I'm like you Jerry, If I go someplace and there are a lot of people I immediately leave for greener pastures. It doesn't matter how beautiful the area, once you add in people it becomes undesirable.

    My Journey

I'm about to turn 58 and I have been falling much more often than I used to. Always seems to happen on a downhill and than I'm always mad at myself because a few years earlier I would have been able to save it. We don't have to stop doing what we love as we get older, we just need to be more...

I agree with Jbynum, the cabin looks great. You do really good work. Looking forward to seeing all the places you and the dogs visit. Stay safe.

    My Journey

I feel for you Jerry. My dog Luna and me were supposed to go to Alaska in September but she ended up breaking a toe. With recovery time she wouldn't have been able to do all the hiking, so the trip has been postponed a year. Hated to do it, but the trip wouldn't be the same without her. Here's...

    My Journey

We weren't feeding the bear. My wife volunteers at an animal sanctuary and we release possums and raccoons here on the property. We have been putting food out for them for the past 26 years and this was the first bear we have seen. After this initial visit the bear never returned.

You either took a photography class or bought a new camera because your pictures seem much clearer. Thanks again for taking us all along on your journeys. Enjoying your trip as always.

    My Journey

We've been here for 26 years and this is the first time we've seen a bear. He's eating dog food that we put out for the raccoons and possums. My wife, me, and my 130 lb. Newfie mix are about two feet away and as you can see he doesn't seem very concerned. He looks really skinny so we sent a...

Always better to adopt, than shop. And good on you for adopting an older dog and for the good life I know you're going to give her.
