My solar generator has more than enough DC outlets. USB's and a 12 V socket I plug into that has an Anderson adapter I added. Bang for the buck the Jackery solar generators are hard to beat. Very light, compact and reliable as anything out there.

Yes by steam baking or using silicon cup on top of foil. Large ovens are good when you are camping with a large family.

FWIW I have a 2005 GMC Sierra base. 4.3 liter V6 with 5 speed manual and 3.73 gears. It has a 3" knuckle lift, 265/70 x 17 tires and soft topper. I get 16-17 mpg around the city and 19-20mpg highway when doing 70mph unloaded. When I tow it drops to 12mpg no matter how careful I drive.

Over the years I make sure I'm in a spot that is very difficult to access. Never ever go off grid with a towable or RV. One way in one way out with vehicle. On high ground. If you are having strange experiences with other humans then you are not truly off grid.

This is becoming a popular trend for over-landers. I do not see the engine heat effecting the panel at all. As long as the underside is insulated you should be good to go. I personally think it is the lamest looking thing right up there with a snorkel. OTOH it's not my rig so all that matters...
