    Arkto G12 Review and Discussion

Yes! The design of the stand at the point where it mounts into a receiver isn't engineered to withstand the forces it would be subjected to. The weld would likely fail. He told me its just designed to be stationary.

    Arkto G12 Review and Discussion

Thats a nice rig! I used to run my Alta 4 place on the back like that and it worked well enough but I didn't like how much the bikes were bouncing and whipping around even strapped. I also noticed a bit of sway with my old camper as it added 200lbs so far aft. This is one of the reasons I liked...

Idea for a camper with a front receiver. Lockable but not out of sight... https://expeditionportal.com/forum/threads/arkto-g12-review-and-discussion.241488/post-3167462

    Arkto G12 Review and Discussion

Hey guys I just wanted to post regarding a cool mod for you bikers. I pretty much exclusively use my camper for mountain biking. Really wanted to be able to use my rack but alas it was too long and extended the bikes and weight way out towards the truck. So I came up with an idea and had my...

    Arkto Campers-Shakedown, Update

After an exhaustive amount of research I decided to order the G12. I ordered directly from them in Edmonton and decided to drive up to pick it up in person. Just got home last night and here are my first impressions in my order of importance: 1) I arrived at the facility in Edmonton at 9:30am...

    Arkto Campers-Shakedown, Update

Thanks guys. I'm definitely considering options. Not worried about towing with the baby DuraMax. It does as well or better than my old 2nd gen Dodge Ram 2500. Just wanted to downsize a bit while keeping a sane price tag. The D13 is a full 1k lbs heavier than the G12 and I didn't want to mess...

I havent completely ruled out the Dweller 13. I really like the slide out bed and the bathroom

    Arkto Campers-Shakedown, Update

Glad I didn't offend you!:). I was really excited about the dweller then I read through the thread on this site. What kept coming to mind was the myriad hacks and conversions that folks have come up with to fix some particular issue that has come up. I'm blown away by the towing characteristics...

    Arkto Campers-Shakedown, Update

Right! Big difference in being able to hang out in a G12 vs a Sherpa or Summit. The apple to apple comparison is really the Dweller (big concerns about quality), and the EOS, Approach, Karavan and Pursuit ( circuit breaker pop).

    Arkto Campers-Shakedown, Update

Correct. Only outside shower although a nighttime pee inside works. Now so concerned about sleeping with top down as its really easy to pop up. I guess I should say I was looking at a used Mission approach as well but I have to say I think I still prefer the G12

    Arkto Campers-Shakedown, Update

I'm planning to look at a G12 in Denver next week. They have two 23 models and a 24 listed. I dont need the full winter option as I really am more of a fair weather camper. I also dont mind the wood interior of the one listed at a lower price. I do want to be able to set up the lower benches for...

    Arkto Campers-Shakedown, Update

The place I'm looking at the G12 also happens to have what I think may be the only Karavan in stock in the US. My wife raised an eyebrow when I told her I'm going to look at it "just for the hell of it". Just because you can, doesn't mean you should. Her wisdom has kept me out of trouble in...

    Arkto Campers-Shakedown, Update

Glad to hear about the inverter and rooftop solar options now. I'll ask about that next week when I go look. I did look at the Summit kitchen. Are you talking about the stove being weak? That seems to be the prevailing opinion but it also is just barely more room than the Sherpa as a glorified...

    Arkto Campers-Shakedown, Update

I really like the Boreas. I also really like the BRS pursuit and the Kimberly Karavan. Unfortunately there's a little circuit breaker in my brain that pops every time I seriously consider spending that much on a camper. Still have to get 2 kids through college ugh. Started out looking at the...

    Arkto Campers-Shakedown, Update

Been researching these types of campers like crazy and the G12 is top of my list. Going to look at one next week. Wondering if anyone has done a rooftop solar conversion? I'd prefer to not carry around a portable.

    OBI Dweller Review and Discussion

I've read through this entire thread in doing my research and several folks have complained about the energy consumption of the fridge. Like I say I'm going o look at a Dweller next week but I dont want to deal with my batteries draining on a cloudy day or be forced to upgrade to a lithium...

    OBI Dweller Review and Discussion

Forgive me for belaboring this point but the discussion has turned to this anyway. So is there any reason to do the lithium power upgrade other than keeping up with that 12v cooler? My current camper has an 80w panel and a single 12v marine deep cycle battery. My fridge runs on propane when I'm...

    OBI Dweller Review and Discussion

Ok I get it maybe I'm being too picky. How long would you guys say that fridge will go before it drains the batteries? Go forever if you're in the sun? How long before dead batteries in cloudy conditions? I dont own or plan to buy a generator.

    OBI Dweller Review and Discussion

Thanks Wingshot for the thoughtful response. I guess that after doing all of this research, I just expected less "hacks" for spending so much and the situation with the company and the dealers really concerns me. I havent made up my mind as my good old Launch 19 is still going strong. That...
