    All Terrain Warriors campers

Hi John, Wow, looks great. I have my front/rear weight measurements somewhere. I will look for them and let you know. I think my overall was 11,200 lbs (5 metric tons), maybe 12,000 lbs with a trips worth of stuff. I would have gone to the expo but just returned from a week on the White Rim...

    All Terrain Warriors campers

Parabolic Springs Hi John, I may consider the parabolic springs that Sportsmobile will offer, so I have a couple questions for you. Compared to stock, how is the ride on the road? I assume they are more plush over bumps and do better offroad, but how do they perform in terms of body roll...

    Fuso FG Bilstein 5100 shocks

Ranchos I installed Rancho 9000's in the rear today. They fit with roughly 2" of additional compression - I have about 1" before my rubber stops hit the axle, so should be ok. At some point I'd like to add another 0.5" of ride height. The Rancho part number is RS999118..... spec is 14.360"...

    FG fuel economy

Me too. I have the 315-16" M/T Toyos, and the speedo is now accurate, meaning stock is reading high. The odometer on the other hand was measuring accurate with the stock tires/wheels. I usually get 12-13mpg (diameter corrected) b/w 60-63mph if my tires are at 60psi. If I forget to air-up or...

    Fuso FG Bilstein 5100 shocks

Check the numbers I pasted in my last post. You can see the shock's compressed length spec is about the same as the distance I measured b/w the mounts with camper load.....in other words the shock won't compress enough to work. I don't believe Doug's suspension was stock and likely it was...

    Fuso inadequate AC system fixed

I drove through +95F temps last weekend and would argue the AC system on my '07 could also stand some improving. The rig was overheating climbing up the Grapevine (north bound) with the AC on, but that's another issue. I noticed that the air coming through the vents with the AC off was...

    Project update Feb 2010

Pic in Mammoth Hey that's great - stop by anytime. It's still a work in progress, but at least it's at a point I can enjoy it. Went to Mammoth last weekend. We stayed in the RV park there for the first time (a bit expensive), but we explored offroad out near the hot springs area in the...

    first breakdown !!

Bummer Lehel - thanks for sharing. With my 33 yr old Bluebird, I carry lots of extra filters, hose, etc - especially in Baja. Clearly I need to get in that habit with my Fuso too. I was just up in Mammoth/Bishop yesterday. What's the name of the mechanic you worked with in Bishop? I don't...

LPG and cooking fuels generally in expedition vehicles

Rick, I definitely agree that the loose lpg bottles are a hassle. My old slide-in camper had two 5-gallon. My new tank is 20-gallons and perminantely mounted, so less fills and hassle. I expect it to last for several months running the frig/stove/bbq - we'll see about the generator. I will...

LPG and cooking fuels generally in expedition vehicles

gen Peter, that would be a nice setup and I did consider it. I'm not saying my approach is the best, but for my needs it seemed like a pretty functional, low cost, and light weight approach. I have an A/C unit and lots of power tools, and figured the easiest way to power them is with an ac/dc...

LPG and cooking fuels generally in expedition vehicles

Lpg A LPG cooktop will not produce harmful levels of CO unless it's malfunctioning or it runs out of air. A ideal propane burn produces zero CO. We know it's not likely to be ideal, but the levels are not toxic. Yes it produces CO2. So does breathing. Regardless of your stove type, there...

    Fuso Canter versus Isuzu

Thanks John, Like you said, those of us in the States don’t have to worry about this debate –since we have no choice. But as to the quality of this forum, I’ll I can say is those of us in the States with 4x4 Fusos couldn’t be more indebted to you for generously sharing all your valuable...
