    2016 Desert Rover build, WIP!

Love that color! Wish something like it was available when I bought my Tundra.

What years Tundra do you recommend?

Hmm, all of the information I have read states that the rack changed in 2009. Do you have a link that states they changed prior to that?

What years Tundra do you recommend?

I have a 2008, DC, 4x4, 5.7L non-FFV--absolutely love it! Some say that 2008 is the best year for the 2nd-gen as it got all of the fixes from 2007, has the "good" steering rack, and wasn't de-contented like later years.

Project Fauxverlander 200 Series Land Cruiser Build Thread

Is that size a typo? I didn't think that size was offered as a BFG AT.

How do you access/plan to access your spare tire if you have a flat?

Tundra.... Would you switch from a new Ram Powerwagon?

Not that it matters now, but I would go with the Tundra just for reliability--in fact, I did. And I come from a Mopar family. My dad has owned nothing but Cummins powered Dodges, er Rams, since the late 80's. I loved the older ones, but both my dad and brother have newer Dodges, er Rams (1/2...

    Looking for an expedition TRUCK

But the Tundra doesn't... at least I know Toyota doesn't on the 10.5".

New Truck Purchase Opinions Requested - Tundra vs Power Wagon vs 2500 Gas

I currently own a 2008 Tundra. Before that I had a couple of Fords and a Nissan (trucks) and have owned just about every major brand of vehicle in some shape or form--my Tundra has been the most reliable vehicle I have ever owned despite treating it more like a 3/4 ton. I don't know why a...

Finally took my Pop-up/Tundra to the Scales - What a pig!

Interestingly, of all the recovery gear you mentioned, chains were the only thing I have NEEDED. Here is a pic (while still clean) shortly before I was buried to the frame in a snow covered "pond." I chained up the rear, put it in 4LO and the magic of ATRAC saved the day... .

Finally took my Pop-up/Tundra to the Scales - What a pig!

I have a 2008 Tundra DC 4x4 5.7L (Timbrens, Deaver AAL, 275/70/18 E-rated tires) with a Shadow Cruiser pop-up. On one trip through about 7 Rocky Mtn states (so we had EVERYTHING) including my family, gas, etc, we weighed 7950lbs. The rear may have been a little over the (P-tire rated) axle...

BFGoodrich AT KO2, Initial impressions and hopefully long term report

Good to know--I'll be headed up near your neck of the woods, Hood River/Mt. Hood.

BFGoodrich AT KO2, Initial impressions and hopefully long term report

Yeah, I hate staggered releases... . I have only ran BFG ATs on my 4x4s for the last 20 years, but I need new tires, now, cause suddenly I have to go on a 3000 mile trip before Xmas. The size I need won't be out until March, so I am leaning towards a set of Duratracs.

Seattle to the Darien Gap in a sub $5,000 Toyota - What would you buy?

Its been a loooooonng time since I lived in Panama. But IIRC, the average taxi was a beat to hell Corolla with 4 mismatched tires (and I mean size) with Xmas lights, a color-tinted windshield, and smelled like vomit. So I wouldn't cross a Corolla off your list! :sombrero:

    New BFG All Terrain Design?

I have been running BFG ATs for decades and currently have a set on my Tundra. I need new tires soon--and the BFG ATs in the size I need (275/70/18) are actually one of the most inexpensive name brand tires available. Unfortunately, the new ones I need won't be out until next year. I am...

    New Hilux (Tacoma?) spotted...

I hope the opposite--I want Toyota to venture into HD territory. Although, I am sure the experience of folks on here trumps the following and I wouldn't really want a Toyota HD... . http://blogs.cars.com/kickingtires/2014/09/whats-the-most-worry-free-car-you-can-buy.html

    New Hilux (Tacoma?) spotted...

My Tundra has been as reliable as an anvil and I know both a 90's 4runner owner and an FJ80 owner (both bought new) that had lemons--that is anecdotal and happens with any brand. On average, however, Toyota is still consistently the quality leader.

    New Hilux (Tacoma?) spotted...

You knew what I was saying--who makes a non-turbo diesel automotive application in the US? Also, same thing but opposite regarding Toyota making any turbo gas engines--the NX is the first in quite awhile.

Well, given that you too live at a relatively high elevation--power... (turbo-diesel).
