Tundra Rock-Slide Bumpers? What do you guys think?

Wow, great post! I had never seen these and are exactly what I would like for my Tundra--tidy and aluminum! I honestly foresee ordering these once I finish building my shop in a month or so.

Tundra 5.7, Flex Fuel engine vs. non Flex Fuel

I don't know how some folks claim/achieve such terrible mileage with their Tundra. My Tundra has a small lift and 275/70/18 BFG ATs--2008, DC, 4x4, 5.7L My most recent longish trip was to Pagosa Springs, CO. I got something like 17.5 going up and 19.5 coming back. On a 3000 mile trip through...

What Truck for family of 5, 3 kids that are getting BIG!

My family of 4 has 2 boys (10 & 12). I have a 2008 Tundra DC with a truck camper and we have been in every Rocky mountain state and driven thousands and thousands of miles doing so. I even pull a small trailer from time to time with dirt bikes/mountain bikes. It works great for us. In fact...

    Help me pick a vehicle

Actually the Tundra is more American: http://wallstcheatsheet.com/automobiles/the-8-most-american-trucks-for-2014.html/?a=viewall And a mighty fine pickup as well! Mine has hauled a truck camper and my family through every Rocky Mountain state comfortably and reliably

    "Uh-Huh" Trail Teams FJ

Nice FJ. A guy I know that bought a Cement Grey TT brand new just sold his to CarMax about a month ago to buy a new pickup. I wish I would have been in the market at the time since he only used it to commute and it still looked brand new.

Would a 2011 Toyota Tundra be too big for most western trails?

And those Tacoma dimensions are for the short (useless ;)) bed--the long bed is even bigger and has the same turning circle as the Tundra.

Would a 2011 Toyota Tundra be too big for most western trails?

If you literally mean "wilderness," obviously, you can't take any vehicles there. If you are referring to forest service roads, it may be worth pointing out that most construction vehicles (pickups) that traverse those roads are full-size and most/many forest service vehicles are as well. You...

Tundra or Tacoma - future camper hauler???

When I got rid of my old Ford back in 2008, I went through the same comparison. In the end, I went with a Tundra DC for a few reasons: --a DC LB Tacoma's exterior is not much smaller (~7" length and 5" width) than a Tundra but has a shorter bed and the same turn radius --I knew I would be...

    Thinking about a Tacoma

Pretty much. Although, there were some interior changes that I personally don't like. Loss of 2nd glove box, loss of grab handle, etc.... .

    Camper and Truck Photos

I think some of my pics/links got messed up in other threads. Here is my Tundra and Shadow Cruiser:

    What new Toyota to buy??

The 2nd gen Tundra isn't any bigger on the outside than the later 1st gen--and not that much bigger than a DC Tacoma with a useful box size... . :sombrero: But has way more power.

Tacoma DCLB vs. Tundra DCLB and Flippac for growing family with bikes and dog

I have a 2008 Tundra 4x4 DC with the short bed (78.7"). It has been perfect for my family of four when camping, bicycling, riding motorcycles, etc. Personally, I would never buy a pickup with a bed any shorter than what I currently have.

    Reliability indexes

Perhaps in this day it is quaint... But I don't pay for CR data--get a library card and look at the magazines in hardcopy (at the library) or access CR online via your library log-in from home.

    2014's "Husqvarna" enduros.

I agree. Even worse is the lack of pull start on a fourwheeler. I can (and have) push started a dirtbike when the battery went TU. We got a dump of snow the other day and had to plow my driveway--the pull start on my fourwheeler saved the day. I haven't done any research, but can a fuel...

    Hot Water VS Diesel Fuel

My family had a sawmill in Idaho--until it burnt down and the family basically lost everything (many decades ago). We had a couple of those steam engines--one was donated to the county for hay rides during the county fair, the other was sold. We still have a couple of the old boilers. One ran...

    new Chevy Colorado

Until we got my wife's most recent car, she had never owned anything but vehicles with a manual. With a V8 in front of it, a modern auto isn't terrible, but I would never buy a non-V8 vehicle with an auto (now that I think about it, I never have). But the days that that is even possible are...

    new Chevy Colorado

Based on my VW experience, I completely agree. They look incredible in the showroom and on paper, but tend to fall apart (literally) in the real world after short term use... . I like the idea of the Amarok; I would never buy one.

Alternative to camper jacks and brackets?

I must not be understanding what you mean--how do you lift the camper out of the pickup (or raise it up to clear the bed when putting it on) with 2 jack stands?

    new Chevy Colorado

Blah. I think that the global Colorado is a much better looking and cohesive design. This one took that balanced design and said, "make it squarer, with square wheel wells." I like the hope for a diesel, however.
