Sounds more like it provides sat. communication for GPS devices outside cell coverage. Cell coverage is not required for true GPS. (Yes, some cell phones claim to have gps, but require cell coverage. It's a sham.)

Go on ebay and look for "prism pole" Its a surveyor's tool, aluminum or carbon fiber, they extend from 5' to 12', reasonable weight althreaded insert on top...perfect.

Has anybody thought about using one of these filters? Not the greatest solution for short trips, but it looks like it would take care of any quality of water you ran across. I'm trying to figure out the best way to get the required pressure.
