Paul, how are things on your side of the world? Any great adventures lately? I'm still looking for a job, but what I really wanted to share with you is tomorrow I'm getting an '84 FJ40 in extremely good condition. Doesn't have the diesel engine I was after, but everything works I'm psyched...

    First trail ride in Oman

Strange, I never got your PM.... 3 months ago Anywhoo, Chile is a fantastic fare. Vehicle wise its not nearly as neat as Venolandia for the severe lack of machitos running about, however the Suzuki Samurai is everyone's toy of choice and get used pretty heavily in "jeepeo" events which are...

    First trail ride in Oman

Well, you can at least say you 'lived' the experience for a day. Not too shabby for starters ;) When someone mentioned a day trip in Oman I knew it was going to be some tale coming from my dear friend UK4x4 How is the 76/77 coming along?

Ford power plant in 2007 TDi?

I'll admit right out of the box, that I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to Landy's since I've spent more time looking at TLCs. However, for the sake of enlightenment I was reading about Safari Drive receiving new 2007 Defender TDi's with a 2.4L Ford power plant common rail diesel for their...

High Pressure vs. Low Pressure zones for air induction

Just to stir things up abit, I actually run my snorkel forward most of the time with the exception in snow, high dust or heavy rain for the pure sake of ensuring NOTHING goes down the snorkel. That said I also have a computer measuring my inputs/outputs on my FJC and I actually ran my snorkel...

Anways my grand plan at the moment is to move to Chile where finiquito money goes further and also gets me back into my mountains. There may be some possibilities to get connected with some WL work in Chile since ENAP just signed contracts with SLB just recently for logging geothermal wells...

Paul, Bad news dude, I got the pink slip and the word on the street is all IMs are being removed from Maturin. I got called in the day before I was supposed to move to El Tigre. I got called in the same day as they fired the FSM. I also heard they fired an expat venezuelan who refused to go...

Pic request of BFG KM2s in 255/85/16

I'd love to hear of a report of what kind of effects the 255's have on your gas mileage as compared to wider tyres. I have the 285's on 17's on my FJC and though I haven't have many issues with the balancing (I go to Firestone since I paid for the lifetime balancing) the 285's really wrecked my...

What engine is in this LC ?

UK, I visited the website you put up showing off the 76 wagon. What a bizarre site. I found one similar to that that is based in Belgium that sells new troopies that has a similar format.http://www.transauto.be/car/export.php?car=TOYOTA-Land-Cruiser--HZJ-76-&chx=11&cma=1&se=1&mo=117&lg=en...

    General route finding advice...mapping software?

For my South America trip I'm planning, so far I've used ITMB maps per country since they display Tracks and Trails (seasonal tracks). This has been fantastic in planning the journey from a 4 wheel drive standpoint since we'd rather make the route challenging and see the real back country over...

    My 80 build up thread

I must be confusing it with 100 series. Those I see a lot of them in the Houston area, totally polished and posh. They don't seem to understand what kind of vehicle they have under their feet and probably never go near the edge of the pavement.

    My 80 build up thread

Sweet looking 80. Was the solid axle stock on the vehicle when you obtained it? Or was this a swap at some point? I love the look of the limb risers...compliments the ARB bumper really well :D

    Backup/reverse lights: thoughts?

Not sure if anyone has mentioned it yet, but Kaymar makes a telescoping pole that mounts to the spare tyre carrier. KA 0500 http://www.man-a-fre.com/parts_accessories/kaymarbumperattachmentsacc.htm Maybe not the cheap solution though.

    Toyo 70 light 4 door

I'd love a troopy and I still want one in the future, but I'm going to hold out for an HZJ78 and not bother with a swap. The price difference between this 77 and a troopy for me would be gigantic so the price of a troopy would get me 3 and half 77's...or one old 77 revamped/reworked with...

    Toyo 70 light 4 door

Fantastic looking 77. I find this ironic that I found this thread by googling PZJ77 and this came up...goes to show I should search EXPO before google. Also ironic to note is that I too have found one. Its a PZJ77 in Chile, built in '92. Looks to be in decent shape and its just finished a...
