No affiliation, but I stumbled across this today. If I had the money I would be buying it right after work. So, if nobody is willing to loan me the $6K for this beautiful truck, maybe we can see it in the ExPo family soon.

Damn, I knew I should have read the whole ad before I posted it here. I missed that. It would be interesting to get a Carfax on it and see why it was salvaged. could be something as simple as a theft recovery. I dunno, but she sure is purty.

If it drove good and straight I would not hesitate buying it. It's not like your buying a $30k car with a salv. title. Regardless it's still a little pricey for a 95. If it were $4k or around that number I would buy it in a heartbeat. I want a Range Rover Classic in a bad way. I had one before I bought my Defender 130 and I regret it. Having owned just about every type of Land Rover made I believe the Range Rover Classic is the best vehicle Land Rover ever produced. Man, I wish I could get another.

I hear yah Kevin. I had a 89 white classic before my disco, and I miss it too. It was in perfect shape in and out, but was burning oil like crazy...

someday another one will come along!

Man Kev I think you really need a Classic in a bad way x 10. You've mentioned the regretting the sale of your former Classic many times and I'm starting the think theat the only cure is more Classic. BTW - what's the deal w/ your Disco? Is it a basket case? PM me if you want so we don't thread hijack.

Salvage title is not always bad. XTreme 4X4 (Spike TV) did a Hemi Jeep conversion on a Wrangler earlier this season, and their donor vehicle was totaled out by the insurance company for an exceptionally minor crunch on the right rear corner of the Jeep. It was otherwise unhurt, and they simply put a patch panel over the corner. Also, a friend of mine bought a car in 1988 that, for reasons that are beyond me, had to be listed as salvage title since the car was being sold by the dealer without warranty. He drove the thing for over 10 years with no issues....

Did some idle searches on CL this morning. Here's what I found:

* Lots of FJ60's for under $2500. Most of them are in running condition. Lowest price was I think $1500 but it needed an engine or a tranny.

* 1st gen Discos also very much available under $2500

* I think there was an old RR for under $2500 but it was salvage and I think it needed major work.

* Even found a couple of FJ55s!

This is in the Denver metro area. My guess is that economic downturn + high gas prices has people selling their old rigs. Definitely a buyers market if someone is looking for something.

I just think it is funny how they kind of slip that part in, what is it like getting insurance with a salvage title.

The fact that he asked potential buyers to call him with questions about the salvage title is hardly "slipping it in". Seems like a up front honest seller.

No I dont know this person, just amazed how fast people are willing to start trashing someone.
