    Expedition Overland 2013 Tacoma Build

Yeah...that looks awesome. I must admit I've ogled your previous body wrap designs before and this one is no exception. Who does the graphics work for you? Also, out of curiosity, what does something like this cost to apply (approximately) for a full-sized truck like the Taco?

Possible Jeep to Disco convert...need some input from the experts!

I figured I'd write back to this thread I started since I rarely see the final result of someone asking questions like this...I did end up driving the Disco and, while I enjoyed the stadium seating and could tell it was a truly advanced piece of offroad machinery, I decided to pass. I think this...

Possible Jeep to Disco convert...need some input from the experts!

Came looking for good advice and EP came through. Thanks for all the input so far, you're confirming my understanding that this is a big upgrade (both literally and figuratively) from the XJ in many ways but just needs consistent maintenance like anything else. Yes, thanks to JH and others for...

Possible Jeep to Disco convert...need some input from the experts!

I am learning on the Jeep with the help of my neighbor but, yes, I've spent a pretty penny on install alone of the suspension lift and front bumper/winch setup. I'm a quick study but my hope would be that the Rover group could help me bridge the gap...I'm far from self-sufficient at this point...

Possible Jeep to Disco convert...need some input from the experts!

So, this is a good point - certainly money is an object up to a certain point. I'm not quite 30 and not making mega millions but I am more financially stable than I've ever been so I don't mind buying something nice and keeping it that way. I guess my follow-up question to you would be, what...

Possible Jeep to Disco convert...need some input from the experts!

Hey all, I've been lurking the EP forum for about a year and posted here and there. Obviously the one thing you take away here is that Expedition-type vehicles and their related pursuits are not for the faint of heart or light of wallet. In that light, I'd been building up my 2000 Jeep Cherokee...

unURBAN Adventures - Alaska to Argentina to AFRICA!

Missing the Patrol! I popped back in to check on this thread partially hoping you'd be back with your many great stories and beautiful photography but, I have to admit, most of all I want to see you back on the road in your Patrol! Best of luck back on the road...

    O'erlanderwagen build

I've actually only got the start of the build for now (lift, tires, some lights, waiting on bumper/winch) hosted up on CherokeeForum here: http://www.cherokeeforum.com/f46/2000-classic-adirondack-edition-99851/ Once I get further into the "expedition" elements I'll get a build thread up on...

    O'erlanderwagen build

Haha, agreed! That alone may have me eventually buying the Front Runner setup... Everything looks great, love your crew's mock fire ring and, again, the "factory mod" look of every addition really works in my opinion. Makes me want one of these SO bad, but gotta finish my Jeep XJ build first!

Lewis and Clark, et. al - 2 months and 8,000 miles in a FJ40.

Love the rig, writing style and chosen roads...looking forward to the next installment!

unURBAN Adventures - Alaska to Argentina to AFRICA!

No, never - I've wilderness camped too many times to ever put food in a tent. My guess would be that the unseasonable temps (30s in September) and potentially a late night cook-out by a nearby site drew the bear in. I don't think s/he meant to bust into the tent, because when we woke up it was...

    O'erlanderwagen build

My god...excuse me while I mop up the drool from my keyboard for a moment. Someday I hope to have the time and resources you've put into this build, because it is truly bad ***. I'm a big fan of the "looks like stock" modding approach you've followed for all of your aftermarket parts, which is...

unURBAN Adventures - Alaska to Argentina to AFRICA!

Whew! What an adventure! Well, I FINALLY caught up to y'all on your trip and great adventure over the last year and a half by reading here and there every night for almost 3 weeks. Feel like I've been on an intercontinental trip myself! I've also spent a night "sleeping" in my car, although...

XJ - roof rack tire vs. rear bumper mount tire

I know your point was to remove the spare from your rear cargo space, but I've focused on maintaining an Overland XJ with 31" tires for the exact reason that I can still fit the spare standing up in the rear. Placing on the roof opens up all the above mentioned issues with stability, sway and...

Jeep Cherokee XJ - Contender for the Overlanding Crown?

Can't argue with your experience - I guess the years have just been kind to mine. The only area that I've noticed poor durability is on the plastic snaps holding the bottoms of door panels in. I know I was personally responsible for a couple when overhauling the stereo, but if they made some...

Jeep Cherokee XJ - Contender for the Overlanding Crown?

Probably some truth to that, I've always felt like the rear is handling so much of the day-to-day drive power that a Chrysler 8.25 or Dana 44 (if you're lucky) beats out the front pinion, but you speak with conviction and I think that's probably a good recommendation to the XJ newcomer!

    Couldn't agree more!

Jeep Cherokee XJ - Contender for the Overlanding Crown?

Like specific model? I think while the interior build of some of the early (late 80s, early 90s) is a little more solid, but spartan the really important components like axels, differentials, transfer case and engine are especially refined in the 97+ models. The Chrysler Company 8.25 rear axle...
