    2005 LJ Rubicon - headlight switch/wiring overheating

This happened she I was running HIDs and I had a relay setup. Not fun to fix. It's one of the reasons I went to trucklites because the draw is so much lower. I run without a relay and have no issues.

    inside length of '05 unlimited?

I have an LJ and can measure for you---obviously this depends on seat position. Also the back of hard top angles forward as it goes up, so you lose space the higher you go. In case you were wondering, it is possible to sleep in the jeep. I have a shelf assembly on the passenger side. I tumble...

    JK on 40s???

Haven, I think it was more than sheetmetal mods. I think they did some mods to frame and suspension to accomodate the tires, just no "lift".

    Sound Deadening Options?

I've bee thinking of doing this on my LJ windshield frame, but am nervous about it expanding too much and causing damage. Any advice to offer on how you did this. Did ou just use great stuff?

    Sound Deadening Options?

Gentlemen, I used this to insulate the hardtop on my Jeep LJ and am very pleased with the results. I used the 1" thick and it insulated the cab so it heats/cools quicker. And absorbed quite a bit of noise. I can now talk on my cell on the highway. Highly recommended...

http://www.neworleansshowcase.com/afterhunt.html $57.95 with free shipping. They sell them for about that price at most any store that carries cookbooks around here. I literally tripped over a stack of them on Saturday following my wife through a store while texting. I'm a spaz. He's also...

Suspension setup for Expedition travel in a 2005 Jeep Rubicon Unlimited

I've spent a lot of time over several jeeps analyzing what leads to a good ride and I've come to the following conclusions which isn't a parts list so much as a build philosophy. 1) Ride Height. Lower = Better from a comfort standpoint for two primary reasons. First, flatter control arm angles...

    Waterproofing your vehicle

The point about using a compressor to pressurize the distributor was well made. I think several military vehicles over the years have had fording kits that, once turned on, provided a slight positive pressure to the diffs, transfer case, transmission, and crankcase. Obviously, if not well...

    Game cookbook recommendations please.

Yes, It is expensive---about $56 now. They were almost $100 last Christmas but I got one for each of my two best hunting buddies. The books are great, beautiful pictures and stories about hunting in addition to a ton of recipes. Check it out, you won't regret it. I need to get one for myself.

    Game cookbook recommendations please.

Well, although it is geared specifically toward the game we have here in Louisiana, I'll recommend After the Hunt by John Folse. We have the best food in the world here and he is considered to be one of the best chefs in Louisiana. It's a really cool style coffee table book as well.

    Shower / hot water system

Just had an awesome idea---what about a couple of diverter valves in the coolant lines to and from the heat exchanger that would allow you to bypass the heat exchanger? My reasoning is twofold---first, you could have cold(er) water if you wanted from your one output; and, second, if the...

    Rubicon diff parts

The only way I know to get parts is to scavenge them off of broken diffs. That's why a lot of people go to aftermarket when they break. FYI, the front is supposedly stronger than the rear because some parts are thinner in the rear to accommodate the limited slip that works when the locker is...

    Shower / hot water system

Great thread. One question---how cold will your anti-scald valve allow the water to get? If it will turn the hot side off altogether, you could probably get away with one output. Just something I am thinking of as I shamelessly steal your design.

    Yellow power wagon expedition vehicle

We have a winner! Zack thanks for the name, it put me right on it. Here's a little blurb about the truck and some pics, but sadly the referenced article is gone. It's not even in the Internet archives. For some reason I remembered it being older but this is definitely the truck. Thanks to...

    Yellow power wagon expedition vehicle

For some reason I remember it as an earlier model. But it was very distinctive---loaded down with electronics, I think he had a sunroof and those swiveling captains chairs they used to use in vans, I remember an epirb. Total custom build. I think this guy used it to explore old mining areas or...

Yep, but the story isn't online anymore that I can find. I remember it was for sale around when the story came out.

    Yellow power wagon expedition vehicle

LOL, seriously, it's hard to imagine any vehicle having more character than these old power wagons. I've always been a Jeep guy, but if I ever did a retro build, one of these old carry-alls would be the ultimate. Just too cool. And you never know, the more people that look at this thread...

    Yellow power wagon expedition vehicle

No it, wasn't a carryall. It was a truck. I remember it being for sale back then. I've been searching internet archives to see if I could find it. I just remember finding the build intriguing back then, although I can't exactly remember what was so cool about it now. Just so I'm actually...
