I may be biased, but reading through this, I would agree that this large lockbox will be your best bet. There's a quick-release on BOTH sides for a 3/8" cable - the quick-release latches are 1/4" thick plate steel! It's carpeted inside already, so items you don't use foam for are still protected.

I am probably biased, but look over the Smittybilt drawer VERY carefully. On their website you'll notice that the image of the drawer has the handle and lock photoshopped out. That image is actually a Tuffy Security Drawer - when I complained that they were promoting our product as theirs...

I wouldn't drive around without the drawer locked because it could slide open. It is more for stashing your handgun or valuables when you can't carry them with you (i.e. going in to the bank, etc..)

We are working on one for the TJ/LJ with flip up seat so all is not lost. It will be a little smaller but still a good concealed place to lock things up. Will keep you updated.

Have not tried that but I don't think it will work because of the crossbar under the flip seats. Even with the extra 1.5" the drawer would not clear the bar.
