The next build my brother and I

Mike, Thanks. I get the paint ready sheets from Silver Sheet Metal Inc, 1571 Broad St, Augusta, GA 30904 (706) 724-8088, talk to Art. It only takes them 1-2 days to get it. The rest of the metal I get from Modern Welding Company of Georgia, Inc., 300 Prep Phillips Dr, Augusta, GA 30901...

The next build my brother and I

I used 24GA paint grip pretreated sheet metal, needed sheets that were 5' x 10' and paintable so this material fit the bill. To fasten the sheet to the frame I used stainless steel screws with adhesive under the sheets. I didn't want to uses rivets because each would need to be treated to...

    M416 or start from scratch?

We found out the hard way that building from scratch is lighter and cheaper. Your not adding extra metal to the M416 to support add-ons.

The next build my brother and I

Sorry for the long reply we headed out to URE13 this weekend. The cabinets are screwed from the outside walls into the cabinets. This is one of the reasons the skin will be the last to get installed. They are actually built in place, I found it easier to just build verses try to match up...

    Axle Flip without Welding

As you know ideally it should be welded. If the trailer has brakes it must be welded. If no brakes you may be able to tighten the u bolts enough to keep chamber in the correct orentation. Hope this helps.

The next build my brother and I

I only have a round die, the best way is to go with a square but I gave the round die a shot and it worked no problem. The round tubing is 1 1/4 OSD, pretty strong yet lighter than the 1 1/2 OSD tubing.

Richard if your referring to the 1x2 on the very top of the frame it is in place to bolt the roof rack to. Prior to the skin installation all mounting points must be established.

Thank you for your interest in the build. The 1x2 is welded to the main frame, it has two purposes: The first is to give the floor a place to be sandwiched in and the second purpose is to give the walls a starting point. As far as the tubing bender, I only used one radius die (1 1/4 in ). For me...

Gas springs for trailer lid - help me decide...

I went through the same sorta challenges with my builds. The big issue is if you only use one the lid will twist and not open/close or latch correctly. Also consider the angle the spring is attached, this geometry will increase or decrease strut size. Hope that helps a bit. Take a look at...

The next build my brother and I

Thank you. The first sub-floor is attached with self tapping bolts to the frame on a 1" lip around the edges and 4 each 2" cross beams. The first layer is completely encapsulated in Herculiner. The insulation is sandwiched between the first and second layer again with self tapping bolts. The...

    The Lincoln is a 140, (largest 110V I could find). The trailer will be skinned with 0.0236 paint ready sheet metal. As far as the tubing: frame is 2" x 2"x 16GA with a 1" x 2" x 16GA topper. ribs/skeleton- 1" x 1" x 16GA. floor plate (diamond plate)- 14GA. 3/4" flatten expanded...

The next build my brother and I

Thank you. My goal is under 1500 lbs, as of now we are on track. I use a bender from affordable bender (http://www.affordablebender.com/collections/affordable-benders-tube-notchers). I have used this bender on 3 trailers now, very easy to use with great looking bends. As far as metal...
