I see so many places expo rigs are camping in the west! I'm having no luck finding legal off-grid camping near me. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I'll travel to any of the surrounding states...
I appriciate any help....
RTT ON A 6’+ RACK
I did exactly what you described. By positioning the RTT to the driver’s side of the rack, I used it as an overlapping rain cover to my awning, and over the expo trailer gate for cooking.
TEST RUN
Loved it. Easy to set up and comfortable. Smittybilt put a new thicker mattress in and additional perks. Bottom line is....go for it! Having a king size mattress interior is great for my family. We are looking forward to getting off-road camping in the wild!
VERY NICE!
My M101 build is very similar. However, nowhere near the rig you have built.....yet. My next project is the power plant and solar assist.
On a side note, how do you like your ARB awning room. I’m about to purchase the room myself.
Sorry for the delayed response Theschist
Yes. The rack is bolted to the rails at the base of the tub. As far as the 35s go, the stock tires were 39s so downsizing posed no issues. The trailer tracks right behind me perfectly. I ensured the tires would be the same width as my Jeep as well so...
I’ve stepped up my game!
Well.....it’s been a while and through trail and error I concluded that an RTT is without a doubt the way to go. I purchased the Smittybilt XL Expo tent and love it. For the money and my families uses....it is the perfect tent for us! If anyone is thinking of this...

I'm putting the XL on top of my M101 rack, which is a little over 7' high. I'm ordering the RTT next week and will post the pics asap. I'm not sure if the ladder will be the appropriate length, even with the extension.
