    New to me 2003 Excursion

Well, the roof rack and tire carrier money got put to other use... I was headed from Baton Rouge to Mississippi for a weekend with dual sport friends for some camping & shooting when I busted a radiator. I was cruising in the excursion and saw a 2x4 in the road, but I thought "I'm in a big...

2000 Ford Excursion as expedition vehicle

I'd also like to know a little more about the coil spring swap! I'd probably just fab up some coil spring mounts for the dana 50 since I have no need for the 60 at the time.

very true. I'm leaving factory gearing. I had my wife's pathfinder on a car hauler and it hauled it perfectly fine. gonna try some heavier loads at some point. I'd rather better fuel mileage personally.

    New to me 2003 Excursion

I'm honestly not sure yet. So far I've had a problem keeping the skinny pedal off the floor... a good friend of mine runs a performance diesel shop, and he guessed at 16-17 mpg with the 37's and when I can stay off the floor. It would be a few mpg better with smaller tires.

    ExploringNH's 2000 Ford Excursion build

cool. I plan to custom build mine too, but I plan to have it about 4" tall for aiding when hauling stuff on longer trips. that'll also let me use a linear actuator to pull the LED bar down to where it's less likely to be stolen. While it'll still add length, if you make the swing-away tire...

    ExploringNH's 2000 Ford Excursion build

that's one bad mamma jamma! I've been watching this build, and it's a large part of what made me decide on an excursion. I considered a V10 for cheap, and then swapping in a cummins, but decided on a bulletproof 6.0. I've got essentially the same lift/tire combo. mine has the block from BDS as...

    New to me 2003 Excursion

also, XRRider, I'm gonna need the specs on that BRP! I had a plated 01 sumo/dual sport that I put a ton of miles on. I sold it to help fund the Baja trip, but I miss that bike more than most of my other sumos for the shear fact that with just a wheel/tire change, I could do anything from track...

    New to me 2003 Excursion

For the RZR, I've got an 06 R6 motor sitting in my garage, but I'm trying to decide if I want to run it or if I want to go with a RC51 motor since I'll be using it for mostly trail riding, with some really tight sections. Running a Protodie live-axle with their wilwood inboard brakes.

    New to me 2003 Excursion

I've been watching yours. You've got a nice rig! It'll be a while before I get anything done to mine, as I'm in the process of building a sport bike powered Polaris RZR. The roof rack and swing-away carrier will be all laser cut brackets. A good friend of mine owns a metal fab shop, so I'm...

    New to me 2003 Excursion

New here, so I figured I'd start a thread. I'm a firefighter from just outside of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. I just picked up a new ride the other day. It's a 2003 excursion 6.0L diesel. It's been bulletproofed to fix all the common 6.0L problems (head studs, EGR delete, new HPOP, etc). It's got...
