’02 Chevy 1500 2wd, whats this sound?

2002 Chevy 1500, 5.3, 2wd. Trying to figure out this sound. I have been chasing it for some time. Finally got to record it:

Sounds like it’s coming the front left wheel. Both wheels are tight with no slop or play.

It’s random, I can go days without hearing it then hear it for the whole day.

Always starts as I accelerate past 30 mph and stops as I slow below 30 mph- like clockwork!

Doesn’t fluctuate with rpms but sort of paces the speed

Always on a straight driving - but will remain if its there during a gradual lane change.

Original calipers? Have you had the brakes apart and cleaned and lubricated the pins? May be the caliper hanging up a bit. I've had unit bearings make a little noise without exhibiting play, but they usually growl, in my experience.

I used to have an old Mazda that seemed to go through wheel bearings every few months in Washington state's wet climate. It would start as a sound/feeling through the steering wheel.

A sound that changes pitch with vehicle speed and not engine speed seems like a wheel/tire/brake/bearing issue.

I used to change my bearings out in the auto craft shop at Fort Lewis. It really didn't take me more than an hour or so. The only "specialized" tool I needed was a bearing greaser which was a thing that looked like two plastic cones you pumped grease into until it came out of the bearing.

Brakes, brake backing plate(dust shield).
Doesn’t sound like a unit bearing IMO.
Bearing sounds more like a hum at highway speed and you can make it quieter/louder depending on which way you’re steering. The outside wheel gets more weight on it and gets louder.

I’m voting for something in the brakes. My bearings also didn’t sound like that. But you never know until you crawl under and check it out.
