05+ A/C Randomly Cutting Out?

I know this has been reported by DOC, but I haven't come across anyone else who has had this problem. Doing a search didn't turn up anything, so I'm sending this out to the masses.

HPI: About a week ago, I started up by truck and the A/C and fan would not turn on. The lights on the A/C and Recirc. buttons still lit up, but I had no fan or A/C, regardless of position of the temp control or the fan switch. I remembered that DOC had this problem, and that it had resolved spontaneously, so I didn't worry about it. However, the same issue happened today and persisted despite turning the truck on and off 4 or 5 times. When I got in the truck about an hour ago, everything was back to normal.

So what gives? Anyone else have/had this problem? I know it may just be an idiosyncrasy of this truck, but when it's August in NC, I want my A/C dammit!

Yotas will often electrically cut the AC clutch when the engine temperature exceeds some value. Are you sure you're not overheating?

I have an 00 Taco, but encounter almost the same issue. Fan is no problem, but the AC will cut out. Does turning it to defrost get the AC running (defrost will turn it on separate from the AC switch). Mine will run on defrost but not when I hit the switch. I've found that it is a bad connection on the switch, if I pull the switch out, and then firmly press it back in, the AC will work as normal again.

o7, happened to me once, 15k miles. 2.7 4wd 5sp. It was something like 112 out. Never happened again, i posted on a few forums and it yielded nothing.

some sort of gremlin. if it can't be reproduced i figured why bother the dealer, as i'm under warranty.

post up if you figure it out.

good luck

Uh oh... I have the same issue. I am going to the dealership on Thursday for the 60K service - I'll have them look at it and see if there is something they are aware of.

The A/C gremlin... I still have no idea what causes it, but mine went away just in time for my last Death Valley trip and never came back.

It is a mystery of Japanese electronics as far as I am concerned.
