07+ Tundra, too BIG? Advice

A first gen double cab might be a good consideration too. Not quite as big as the second gen which seems to make it easier to use on the trail. My first gen access cab has the same width as my 80 series just for a bit of perspective. The crew cabs were a touch wider though. I think a 1st gen Tundra is a pretty incredible platform with a great mix of comfort, setup options, power, and capability. Personally I find the Tacomas way too small, I think the gen 1 Tundras are about perfect unless your goal is to do a lot of super technical stuff, then obviously more mods are required. I have done a good del of backcountry travel in the Moab with my Tundra bone stock and it did surprisingly well. Just my 2 pennies.

UPDATE: Purchased a Tacoma

Thank you for all the advice. After lots.... of consideration I elected to order / purchase a 2011 Toyota Tacoma Dbl. Cab 4x4 LB. Yes the really long one. I decided that I wasn't into heavy trail running and that for light exploration, camping and fishing the extra bed length would allow me haul more stuff and with a shell allow me to sleep in the back. The local Texas dealers could not find the truck to my specs so I ened up ordering it from the factory on Nov. 5th. I am due to FINALLY recieve it on Jan. 14th then the real fun begins. Many more questions to follow I am sure.
