i need to set my new metaltek a tad longer for the lift, but i dont know the stock length, as mine are bowed. anyone able to get a centerline to centerline measurement?

Thanks.

Mine has the aftermarket OME's if that will work for you let me know and I'll be happy to measure it for you.
I'll probably be getting the Metaltech's next month when they go on sale. Can't wait to see how they work out for you.

I don't have any hard facts, but i was just talking and crawling under another 80 series this summer that has the exact same lift as mine (slee 4inch) and we were discussing links. He had custom lower links and custom panhards I asked him how he knew what length to make them and he told me that he had a friend who worked at a high end tuner/fab/race shop in CA and that he kind of wanted to set up the suspension as a fun exercise. So i measured his links compared to my stock links and they were literally only 1/2inch longer than stock IIRC. I actually have the measurements written down, but i was surprised that it wasn't much. I think the lower links were like ½ inch longer and the panhards were ¼ inch longer.

i was going to preset at 1/4 inch for 2-3 inches of lift. it depends on the stock angle to begin with, as the arm moves thru the arc. i can set the pinion perfect at a static height, but being that i have introduced a lift, and the upper arms move thru a shorter arc, it'll never operate the exact same as stock. if you were to do a radical lift the thing to worry about with the shorter upper links, is them pulling the pinion into the shaft on droop with a much more radical angle. i dont think thats a concern here. im just going to find stock, twist out 1/4, and see if i get any vibrations. if not, this aint a track car.it close enough for me.

NOOOOOW you say so. :) i just did them. i went about a 1/4".

the rear winch was handy dandy for aligning up the axle too. i had two more assists with it a vot again. i love that winch.

i also cleaned up and reused the stock bolts. the ones with the links are grade 8 zinc, but the stock ones are flange head with a rebated neck to prevent freezing up in the bushing. in since 2001 with NE salt, and they slid right out, and the threads were all in good shape. top notch bolt for that application. thats OEM mass production done right. *sniff* ...makes me proud....
