fuel filler is in an odd spot for a 110. Did these not have rear tanks ?
The slide out battery tray in place of jerry can box has me wondering if the entire area under the seat box was used for fuel tanks ?

No rear tank, the chassis (frame) is modified to fit a spare wheel between the chassis members, these carry three spares when on operations.
They indeed have two fuel tanks, similar to Series tanks, under the seat box. They also have racks for four jerry cans.
They are a three seater, two in the front, one rear facing at the front of the tub, the ROPS and canopy is raised to provide the back seat passenger with less headaches.

I all ways wondered why land rover never offered the rear spare wheel under the chassis as civi option, or even as a fitment on the wolfs.

Wow, that rear crossmember is bizzare. It starts after the tub ends. The frame on this truck looks longer than the standard 110 frame.

The rear is very different than a standard 110.

I saw the term "bristling with function" applied to the Dodge M37 3/4 ton series of vehicles. Relative to civilian trucks, the term was accurate.

However, this ex Aussie Army vehicle of yours truly deserves the title "bristling with function".

I believe that form should follow function, so I like your Rover.
