Hello,

Need recommendations for a 12v razor ....

I was in the Gila National Forest all last week
and no one recognized me when I returned home .....

All info is appreciated .....

Best regards,

I haven't seen one, but, dude, my rechargeable lasts for like a month between charges. I never take the charger when I travel, just make sure it's charged overnight before leaving.

Or, if your current electric razor uses a wall wart (transformer that plugs directly into the socket) with a standard plug, take it down to Radio Shack and get a 12V transformer that has the same output and plug.

If it doesn't use a standard plug, and you have some extremely basic electrical skills, get a 12V transformer with the proper output, and some in-line connectors (male and female) so that you can switch the power cord over from the 110V transformer to the 12V transformer.

Make sure the 12V transformer will handle the wattage, not just the correct voltage output.

Bic.

I understand how using a real razor is a problem if you are use to electric. I was an electric guy for years. But if you are roughing it, you are after all roughing it.

But, IMHO, going native is half the fun of getting away. I Haaaate shaving every day.

+1

My Norelco will last a couple of weeks easily between charges. And there's a 12/120 converter that plugs into the cig lighter that I can plug the Norelco's cord into in case it needs a charge. When all else fails, there's always a disposable razor in my bag of tricks.

Even if I have no plans seeing another soul for days or weeks while out in the sticks, I still like to shave, comb my hair, baby wipe, sponge bathe, or get a quick shower from my 1/2 gallon bug sprayer. Crawling in the sleeping bag feels so much better when I'm clean. Meeting strangers usually seems to go better when I don't look like Charlie Manson and don't smell like a skunk.

Super idea on the AA bats. I'm going off for 3 weeks and wasn't looking forward to a cold water blade shave every day.

Looks like I've got to invest the $20 in a buzzer.

I just saw some little AAA electrics at the local CVS pharmacy. Bet it was the same one.

I've had a few different Braun over the years which charged from 120v or 12v (or 220v) just with a different cord, I'm guessing they must standardize on their charger circuitry and make most of them that way. These were commonly availavle from stores like Target.

Ahhh the good old days... cold water and a double edge razor. In the good ole USMC they made us shave everyday unless in actual combat.

Now at least I warm the water and use a disposable :)
