16 tacoma smooth riding shocks? no lift wanted

High end coilovers definitely ride better. I feel like the Bilstein/ome route is a good budget alternative. Bilstein 5100 ride good as long as you don't put a bunch of preload on them to achieve lift. This also applies to Icon, King , and Fox.

I haven't had higher end coilover in 10 years. Do they hold up to the elements any better? My last set looked horrible their first snow storm.

We shall see, that is something I'm concerned with. I coated them with Fluid Film but the bodies are steel still.

I think you need that as a bumper sticker on your truck. lol

Hells yeah!

Oh, the old beater still gets me to some good spots just the same as those money cannon rigs... ;)

A couple from this past Sunday-Tuesday...."micro-overlanding" trip. :D A quickie 700 miler.

More like spend money like a drunken dirt bag.

Sounds like a Willie Nelson song... :D

I've been looking at the Bilstein 6112's for my '16 OR. They seem like a good compromise between stock and the really expensive adjustable coilovers. I am doing the same thing keeping stock height, maybe going up a notch in the front to level it out a little bit.

and 5160 for the rear?. have you watched TFL truck's ride of the TRD pro Tacoma. you can buy the fox shocks from that but it has 2inch lift. engineer goes over the specs of the shocks pretty good.

Ive had them all on different vehicles, king, fox, sway a way, icon, ome.

King over everything, fox is a close second. Its worth it to pony up the money for them. If you end up not liking the ride, get them revalved. My truck rides like a cadillac.

Blows through corners, no. Wallows around? Yes while traveling 70mph across whooped sections.

I was joking...hence the smilies...:ylsmoke:

(old) Cadillacs handle like poo. My dad had couple 60's 70's caddys..it was like riding in boat with no rudder. ;) :D

Soooo...never could understand that ol saying of "Rides like a Cadillac" Probably one of the worse handling vehicles that was ever produced. :ylsmoke:

I know you were joking lol. But its actually an accurate description of driving a truck with lots of travel and shocks valved for whoops, on the street.

Yes and the 5160's for the rear. Have you priced out the Fox coilovers from the Pro? From what I have seen they are pretty steep and will put you into the King price range.

Find someone with Kings and go for a ride. I have a friend that bought fox coil overs for his Tacoma and thought they road rough. I took him for a ride in my Tundra and he said it was night and day difference. I've also read that the finish on the Kings will hold up better. They are rebuildable for cheap. Can also be valved. I got a good deal from Filthy Motorsports in Boulder Colorado. Dude knew his shocks.
