1964 f350 with factory camper
Location: San Diego, California
The truck was originally converted to 4wd using a donor 1976 f250 highboy. The front axle is a 8 lug Dana 44 with a Detroit locker, NP205 divorced transfer case, rear axle is a Sterling 10.25 from a 1996 f250. 3:55 gear ratio which gives you 60-65mph highway cruising speeds. I swapped the 12 valve Cummins and automatic 3 speed out of a 1990 D350 into it last year. The swap has been amazing, allowing us to drive up steep mountains without even the need for downshifting and doubled the mileage over the big block gas engine that the truck originally had when we purchased the truck 5 years ago. We avg 11 mpg on mountain roads of Southern California with a 38 gallon fuel tank.
There is a small leak from the rear main seal that does not effect drivability.
The camper shows it’s age on the exterior but is in good shape. There is one window mechanism that needs repair but all of the glass is intact. Could use some minor repairs but everything is in working order and ready to travel. It has an ARB 12volt fridge, propane stove/oven, propane hot water heater, propane lamp, toilet and shower, huge 19gallons of propane, 50 gallons of fresh water, power provided by 2- 100watt solar panels and 2- 100 a/h agm batteries.
There is an unique back tailgate that lowers into a porch with sliding back door. Tailgat raises and lowers with an ATV winch mounting in the rear bumper
Within the last year we have traveled from Florida to California to Flagstaff and back to California.
